Now who's being mischievous, you little tinker you. Rog Nick has put some utter rubbish in that post. He has no justification whatsoever for some of the crap he's written, seeking only to make comments that will crowd please, and thus get the attention he seeks. The fact that he is publicly dissing people in the area he's cruising, whilst planning to leave the boat unattended is about as thick as you can get.

Anyway, looking forward to getting off the Kennet ontothe canal as progress is a little slow with a lock every mile or so, a significant current ( will zoom along on the way back though!) and a slightly monotonous riperian feel. You will certainly zoom along on the way back, especially on the last [traffic lighted] section into Reading, and so you will need some fancy boat handling in the final S bends so as to get through the last bridge without striking it. It can be exciting.

It would be hard to glean such evidence without overstaying yourself 😊. However, yes, evidence is available. CRT have stated that they do not have an overstay problem on the k&a. You can Google the info, it's out there 😊

After the traffic lights at county lock which went red again before we had leapt back on the boat, I said this is a fun run darling I don't know what everyone's talking about..... Until the arched bridge! Ooooops full throttle turning green with me saying if we gonna hit its gonna be hard! Of course my superior helmsman skills won through by we reckon a good inch. Exiting I agree, I look forward to going upstream!

Neither the Reading Tesco moorings nor the Reading gaol loop are on the K&A. Just arrived at Kintbury, there is a dumper right on the water point. But as I said earlier, in general people moor sensibly.

Not thick on two counts, the first being that the boat isn't being left unattended, Jeff is staying down on it. And secondly, if I did dis people at Reading who never move their boats, it seems pretty unlikely that they would suddenly decide to up sticks, but a CRT licence and move their boats to Hungerford just to have a go.

You stated previously that whilst you were in Aberdeen, Geoff would be likely to spend a few days in London. Make your mind up, or stop lying.

Exiting I agree, I look forward to going upstream! Downriver through Brewery Gut is best tackled by swinging at County Lock and 'dropping down' stern first. Depending on prevailing conditions, like wind speed and direction, and river levels/current, it can be done with or without rigging up some sort of dropping down weight. Coming into the slight bight (bend) just topside of the bridge ( I think it was called 'High Bridge' ! ? !) you have to cant the fore-end (bow) towards the ness (inside of bend) just enough to keep the river current on the starboard bow as the stern is going under the bridge. If you allow the current to hit the port bow too soon then it will push you into the bight and up against the bridge arch stonework.
