A Metro was awful with 4 wheels, crashing what looks like a motorbike into the back of it will not have improved it one bit!

A Metro was awful with 4 wheels, Do you remember the jammed steering under braking debacle? Stepping hard on the brake would trap a gaiter at the bottom of the steering column rendering the steering locked and useless. The cure was iirc to 'scrunch' the gaiter up using a cable tie so that it didn't get trapped.......gawd bless BL

I think the 3 wheel metro thing is OK, and I bet it moves like shit off a shovel.
Not really my cup of tea personally but I like original ideas and if it's properly executed then in my opinion it is quite a cool vehicle.
Just after I passed my test in 1991 I did have dreams of buying a metro turbo and moving the engine into an Austin mini. Don't know if its feasible but would be a pretty wicked mini if it was doable.

We had the mark 1 metro in the forces both saloon and van and they really were a great machine we had very little problems with them. I later had a 1500 diesel mark 2 it was a good vehicle as well, until it was written off by would you believe a motorbike

If I recall correctly the engine in a Metro was very similar to the A series that was fitted into the Classic Mini, so I would say it would have been doable yes.

I'm absolutely stunned Peter likes them. The only good thing on the car was the hydrolastic suspension. Crude out dated engine, terrible build quality. Awful interior. Absolutely horrendous conveyance. It's worth remembering this is the car BL hoped would resurrect the brand. At the same time Peugeot was in the shit, big French cars were not selling in numbers, the 104 was crap, they too were looking at going under, the car that saved Peugeot? The 205. Like bloody chalk and cheese. Dad often says a second class drive is better than a first class walk, ID rather get fit than drive a metro.
