The last lock of our journey is behind us - Salterhebble Top Lock. 33 'proper' locks up from Goole, and now in the bosom of the Pennines once again. Ensconced at the foot of Halifax. Perhaps tomorrow evening, or early Monday morning, we shall sail triumphantly into Sowerby Bridge, which now feels like our old home (based there Aug 15 - July 16). We could have dallied further but coming in early gives us a chance to tart the boat up for its next foray. We might have time to go to Blackpool by train to see Lancashire's Awful Tower (geddit??!!).
We have had a good trip. Seven and a half weeks on the boat. Lost a mooring pin, broke a whisky glass, and spilt red wine over the Witch - our only mishaps. Somewhat sad to be packing and returning to our reality, but there's still an exciting train journey to London and the flight to Helsinki, and the cat vomiting in the car on the 8-hour drive home.

You have had a good trip and at times we have felt like we lived through it with you.
We, well I can't wait for the next instalment and await being spammed with photos.

While you are in So'rby the place to go is The Puzzle Inn, ask my mate Mick aka Circus Fudge, on Woodcutter, moored opposite the visitor mooring on the basin arm, for directions.

Err.... it shut around October 2015. The Puzzle Hall. Be it re-opened? It seemed to be a definite End of Days. Had a snooze and now the red oxide must be dry so time to fill the water tank and get painting around the v-drains at back. We have turned the second drawer down in the kitchen into a food store, previously was 'miscellaneous boating items', so food items are easier to grab. Water pump filter inspected - was quite clean.
