You lot have got me more interested in other types of boat I see on the canal system.
Don't get me wrong, my first love will always be narrow boats, but there are some very handsome boats about besides.
Today I saw a very good looking Ensign Classic with a central cockpit. I also saw a Buckingham cruiser.
But by far the best was a 1959 cruiser, modelled on a Thames cruiser. It looked lovely.
It had a Morris 1000 petrol engine.
The woodwork looked beautiful.
I would have taken a photo but I still haven't fathomed how to post one, sorry.

I have had a look at an Inspection launch today Esperance at aquaductbrokerage it was a very good looking boat, in fact I was very tempted but it was just so narrow!! I have 2 choices for my next boating life its either the broads or constant cruiser, its just that I dont think I could live in a narrowboat again even one as beautiful as Esperance, look her up she is a thing of beauty

Incidentally, I bought Desiree from Aqueduct brokerage. EDIT- now listed as "under offer".

Esperance is beautiful.
Not great as a live aboard though.
