While Nick has been getting his hackles up today I have:-
Locked 2 x Fox's and 1 Nene valley hire boats at extra effort for me. Winded the NV boat at an awkward location for them, donated a windlass and a 1/2" hose connector. Drunk lots of beer, had an enjoyable cruise up river from Peterborough to Ashton.
And most importantly of all, I haven't had cause to call anyone a cunt or tell anybody to fuck off.
So, all in all, a good days boating 🚢⚓🍻👍

We've re-tied numerous other people's boats up that were adrift this holiday. We pulled someone stuck fast off the mud on the Thames. And lots of other stuff. But such things are just part of everyday canal life and not worthy of comment nor some kind of virtuous point scoring system. It is the MCs that stand out, and that is why I consider them worthy of comment on here. But of course if you don't like it and want to live in fluffy bunny world... I can recommend CWDF.

I noticed you didn't say you pulled someone off when talking about the Thames...

It's a mean old world you inhabit. The stand out should be the good stuff, dwelling on the shit elements of life is a pretty sad existence. Just to give you some reassurance it's not all beer and skittles. This trip I have had to deal with :- 1 miserable old couple on a posh narrowboat that were reluctant to make enough space for me to exit Upper Barnwell Lock, the realisation that I wasn't going to exit the lock until they dropped back enough for us to not have to swap paint Did the trick - no swearing needed 👍 At a guess 1/2 a dozen miserable anglers, two of which lost their gear to our prop. One was hidden amongst the undergrowth while fishing a ledger and wearing camo so I had no chance see him or to avoid his kit. The other was on Mulicourt aqueduct, it's not wide enough to move out of the way of unattended rods so the line was done for. In 50 hours and countless miles of cruising that's the sum total of our confrontation with other waterway users.

My other good deed for the day was some nettle cleaning at Ashton moorings. I have a feeling my long dead granddad will be a bit peed off if he knew how keen the edge is on his old billhook. Stabby wouldn't find it much use for doing the local scrotes a mischief either. Plenty good enough for knocking the undergrowth back though 👍

As Harry Hill would say, there's only one way to decide between you and Mr Stabby Rog I can run pretty quick, although if he catches me I guess sitting on me would do the trick. I'm a fag paper over 71kgs so would loose that contest as well!

As for your sum total, don't forget that you inhabit the east marshes where there is at least 10 miles between each person, whereas we've been on the KandA, Thames and S Oxford where the population density is similar to Mumbai.
