My other good deed for the day was some nettle cleaning at Ashton moorings. I have a feeling my long dead granddad will be a bit peed off if he knew how keen the edge is on his old billhook. Stabby wouldn't find it much use for doing the local scrotes a mischief either. Plenty good enough for knocking the undergrowth back though 👍 Good job you had that automatic lifejacket on, you never know when you are going to fall into 6 inches of water while clearing nettles. The jacket is to set a good example for the dwarf, you know, like responsible parents that wear cycle helmets with their kids. Cuts out the whining 'why do I have to wear a lifejacket when you and mum don't have to' We used to pull that stunt as kids, I'm damn sure I'm not giving mine the chance to call me out as a hypocrite. Besides, teaching kids to have a healthy respect of the water is not a bad idea is it? 🍻⚓🚢👍

Leading by example is the way to go....or so 'they' say.... I'm not convinced myself having had some rather chaotic teenage years to cope with with my 4....I'm sure their behaviour during those alien times not 'learnt nor copied' from me.... However good luck...and at least you've provided the blokes on here with a butt for pee taking....

Don't worry about them Gazza ..... A healthy respect for the water is a good thing to have. If I am on deck on Sabina I often wear a lifejacket (especially if it's a bit rough) and on Shapfell, when on a river if I am going to be out of the cockpit I put it on. Going on commercial boats you always wear a lifejacket when working on deck. towing trip to Arbroath 115 by mudlarker2, on Flickr

We have lifejackets on our shopping list. When we got onto the Aire we thought lifejackets would be kind of handy. It's no canal. Also the Calder is a mighty beast. A kind boater actually gave us a life ring he didn't want, so now that's on top of the roof, and we can throw it at people in the water and hit them on the head with it!!

Well.... we don't have the long line yet... we thought just throwing it at someone and hitting them on the head and yelling "Bullseye!" would do.

Yes, it's pretty heavy, on the roof, I don't think the wind will blow it off. Gonna give someone a headache one day! BONK! OWWW!!!
