To be honest this is close to getting not being worth the time and effort. I didn't make the rules Rog as I said they carried over from last year if you have a problem I suggest you take it up with Delta when he opened the competition or even better start your own competition. The little Moreton hall photo could be included if he withdraws the later one as the last entry in the thread counts as your entry. As I said voters can then decide if it's 'boaty' enough and vote accordingly. The rules of the competition are fine, but Jesus Christ, it's been dragging on almost as long as Tony Blair's resignation as PM. Can we make it a bit less drawn out next year?

No - people need time to take the photos. In fact, I suggest people start thinking about Thunderboat's 2018 photo competition already. Striving for excellence is what Brits are good at. (I should add that any nationality is welcome to enter the competition).

You can announce well in advance that there will be a photo competition at such and such a date but only open the thread to post the photos for a limited time. This is after all, is only the second one for Thunderboat........ the format is bound to need tweaking. I think this is a better competition than last year .........

... I suggest people start thinking about Thunderboat's 2018 photo competition already. ... Why haven't you got a better entry to the competition then? Because I only remembered about the photo competition a few weeks ago, after we had got back. Also, who could have said in October 2016 that Thunderboat would have still been alive 'n' kicking in October 2017? Now that I think about it, how's this for an idea - that 12 of the photo competition pics for the TB Oct 2018 competition are made into a 2019 calendar? That would be a thing to have hung in your kitchen!

Maybe give people 14 days to put up a picture or move on? Post edited to correct typographical error
