John you were right. the quality of pictures coming through is very good.
I may have to reevaluate my own entry.
there are quite a few I would be happy to have on a calander. if you could copy them with enough quality I would head to asda myself.

... I suggest people start thinking about Thunderboat's 2018 photo competition already. ... Why haven't you got a better entry to the competition then? I still think my entry suits me. It's different in that it's monochrome (black & white), and I like that the subject is 'calming and simple', just ratcheting up a paddle with a handspike, and early evening with the sun going down behind the tree. It was a 'quick grab' but I did 'see it' and decide that the 'Grainy Film' setting on the camera was the trick. I think I took 3 pics, and this was the best. My camera is just an ordinary digital camera - Olympus SH-1 - so not really 'fancy equipment'. I also had these in mind for the photo comp (but am not entering them, I shall stick with the handspike pic): Manchester Ship Canal from Barton Aqueduct Foulridge Tunnel Seen at Goole - rare opportunity to catch something like this - I waited until they were in position for this. Coming back from Selby to Knottingley on the River Aire.

the quality of pictures coming through is very good. there are quite a few I would be happy to have on a calendar. Foxy's idea: If 12 photos come up that are calendar-suitable this time around, I could look into having some printed for Thunderboat members. There's time to get that done before Christmas 2017.

Just looked calendar prices - 10 Euros each. How to distribute them is a question, as I don't think everyone here wants to give me their address. Something could be worked out. Anyway, I've made a note about it. (ah! just had an idea about the distribution)

The centre boat in your Goole picture is called Vulcan and it moors on the S&K, its my all time favourite boat, we used to see it occasionally on the northern waters.

I remember you posted a nice video clip of Vulcan on CanalWorld a while ago. Springing off with a stern rope I think it was. very cool boat.

I always like seeing pictures of Vulcan (centre) its a lovely boat. There is a thread about her that i started a while back on cwdf. It includes a short video i caught of her at West Bramwith swing bridge and some links with some background info. Apparently she actually sank once in the Fifth of Forth. canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/topic/45929-vulcan-of-goole/
