🤣😂🤣😂 Does anyone else 'get' these? I sure don't. I do. Hmmm, perhaps you are someone who only "gets" their own humour and not anyone else's! The symbols are a bit small and some look like a teddy bear or Ewok. I need a translator.

Some of them on there really are complete tossers, and Ray T seems to be getting dafter with age. The funny thing is, I've seen a few cwdf'ers on the cut this year. They may well talk a good show on the forum, but some are shite at boat handling when out and about.
I've seen a few boats hit gates, and they were ex working boats. You would think that after 30 yeaeaeaears of experience, they'd have it sussed by now. I've yet to hit one with my fat bitch after 10 years.

I often nudge gates open with the boat when the lock is ready but if someone was sitting by the lock they would not hear much. Its a gentle nudge not a thump. I don't use gates to stop the boat as I have reverse gear and/or ropes for that.
As I understand it in the working days boats would often hit gates and sometimes force open gates with a head of water to speed up journey times but this practice was frowned on and penalties may have been applied by the Company.
And locks were repaired as and when required not the case now, sadly. And lock hardware such as breast irons was much heavier duty in the old days. Basically the system was more durable. It is now quite fragile in some places.
