Here’s the 5th part of a series of 6 albums which tell the tale of our slow trek by narrowboat across the Pennines along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal this Summer. Starting at the Bingley 5-Rise staircase. We left the boat for a whole day in Bingley whilst Pirkko carried on a train to spend some hours in Settle, and I ensconced myself in Gargrave’s church tower for nine hours taking photos of the bells. We then passed through Saltaire, Shipley and Leeds, and from Castleford went by train to Knaresborough and Harrogate for a day trip. From Knottingley we ploughed along the deep waters of the Knottingley & Goole Canal, with another day trip from Goole to Filey and Bridlington. On clicking the link below and seeing all the photos appear at once, you should then click on the first photo to enlarge it, and then click the little i (information sign top right) for the text I have added to appear. Then you may either click the forwards arrow to continue to the next photo, or use your keyboard arrow buttons to sail back and forth. photos.app.goo.gl/thtM8MgA4e7Whbs93

Great, the only mistake was to share with that awful yellow boat. Spoils a few shots, distracts from the grandeur of Bingley 5 rise.

Great, the only mistake was to share with that awful yellow boat. Spoils a few shots, distracts from the grandeur of Bingley 5 rise. The driver of the yellow boat and his wife were very pleasant people. There was something about him though, he looked and had the same voice as Michael Caine (a younger version). In the boat you don't really see much, Pirkko took those photos of course. You see the same yellow boat in the Castleford photos.
