Tut tut 🤣 I did we were in ocean lock which is very very very large they had opened the paddles and I was trying to get a rope on the up wire before we were washed sideways and destroyed the plastic gin palace on the other side of the lock! the rope got trapped and the rest is welding and new steel

"I've got the bits left over from making them originaly and it's no hassle" That said the wind and the turbulence got her .... and I was having great fun bouncing off the lock walls because with the stern gear mods, she doesn't do anything the way I had come to expect, so I ended up in an awkward situation.

I'd have crapped myself, jumped off and left you to it 😂. Bollocks to the plastic fantastic.

John
I hope the half tunnel over the prop turns out to be a good thing once you get used to it. I advocated exactly that modification a while ago so I'm interested to see how it goes and hope you don't get into trouble.
Are you coming back south this year ? Weather is getting a bit rude.

No decision on travelling south yet .... I intend to spend a bit more time exploring up here first but if there is a prolonged spell of calm weather late in the year I might head South. Otherwise I will overwinter up here. I can then explore in the spring and early summer and head South next autumn. There have been a couple of offers of moorings up here, one of them in the river Hull outside the drydock, they have told me if I would like I can stay there getting water and electric from the yard. Access isn't terribly easy but it's free !!! I'm not going to fret about it ...... I'll just see what happens eta I tried turning Sabina round in the canal here ....to port .... something that before the tunnel would have been totally impossible. Now it is possible to do a 4 or 5 point turn ..... hard work but possible. I was also able to get alongside and moor up again single handed !!! Tomorrow I will try doing the same thing but to starboard (which used to be easy peasy)

Try a day trip? Train into Leeds, train to Carlisle. Better still, B&B in Carlisle and make 2 days of it?

Tomorrow I will try doing the same thing but to starboard (which used to be easy peasy) So its partly cancelled the paddlewheel effect of the large propeller. That's probably a good thing. I expect when you do open water cruising again it will put the fuel bill up a bit but as the boat is basically an inland vessel it'll improve handling so the fuel bill won't be too much of a nuisance. When you do come back south I'd seriously recommend a trip up the Thames. I think you said Sabina H is 16'6 wide ? the Humber Lighter "Bustardthorpe" has been as far as Abingdon and it is 17ft wide. I suppose there may be a possible wheelhouse air draft problem at Eton footbridge and Cookham lock cut for your boat.
