Just out of interest, are you quite happy to stitch up "' 'dumb fucks who don't understand electrics' " ? 'Stitch up' maybe isnt the correct term admittedly... undercut 'on line businesses who really take the piss who others recommend ' would perhaps be more accurate!! But to charge for what's taken me 30 years for my knowledge that I've had to work for...Yes quite happy! Andy, is this a relative of yours?

Oh Gazza...You of anyone I would of thought would understand being a worked for engineer!!ππ It made me giggle the semi arse kicking that looked to be coming your way, BTW, I can get hold of plenty of rabbits - The supply of hooky fags has dried up since we stopped using mad Dutch hauliers though ππ»

I see.. so you cheat the supposed cheaters.... and "the dumb fucks" end up with cheap chinese products that your "30 years of knowledge" profits by. Well thank you for the enlightenment, as I make a mental note to perhaps not trust you, especially as I may well be one of the "' 'dumb fucks who don't understand electrics' "A Your 30 years of knowledge suddenly means nothing to me. So where exactly do you think the other ' recommended ' rip of merchants get their products from? Im not aware of any thriving U.K. / Euro LCD bulb manufacturers.... however...'UK produced' box manufacturing is rocketing on the internet!! But hey...you keep believing the hype that everyone's your friend! π

First slight problem in yonks with an eBay purchase this week.
Bought some wall paper that was supposed to arrive via. Royal Mail in 3 to 5 working days.
2 weeks on no sign of it so message the seller yesterday. Ah it needs to be referred to Royal mail for them to see where it might be. Given it was supposed to be sent by a non traceable method I could see this was going to be a challenge. But happy to give the seller the chance to sort it.
Anyway today lo and behold a DPD driver (not royal mail) turns up with it today. Sent yesterday for next day delivery.
He never contacted me further so I have no idea if he did good by just sending me three more rolls realising it was never going to be located or that when they checked he realised he'd never actually sent it in the first place.

But hey...you keep believing the hype that everyone's your friend! π Ahh, so that makes it okay then to mark up 400% for the "the dumb fucks" and its exactly this type of attitude that I encounter, from rip off merchants and guys like you, so No I really dont believe the hype that everyone is my friend.... and is kind of my point actually! So...let's get this clear....you want a set of lights for your boat, you can't be arsed researching what you want or need , you put a post up on CWF or Facebook looking for recommendations? You get recommendations from said people same as you that 'can't be arsed researching' from place that charges you 10x purchase price to send you items through the post they tell you you need and you then fit them yourself? Alternately you have a fella who supplies and fits the same item ( taking into account my experience of comparing the same item, the same markings, the same performance etc) who comes and fits, ensures they work ok and is available because he is locally known! Who does the the most work here? Who puts the most effort in here? Who will return and put any faulty items right? And you have have the gall to call me a rip off merchant? I look forward to never having to deal with you!π

I was about to ask how you pay for anything else you purchase from general shopping to motor vehiclesto power / internet provision/ water supplies? I presume you you live in a world where everyone does things for free or should barter and give and take as in the so-called 'perfect world' ? What exactly do you have to barter in 'your world'?

I just completed a swap on ebay! a calculated risk. which neatly brings us back to the op... ebay can be hugely successful and equally as downright deceptive. ... and, as Nick has discovered, Amazon is not the shining example of fair play either. So its always down to blind trust. ...and just occasionally blind men see! And admittedly the ' ripping dumb fucks off' perhaps wasn't the correct phrase to use. But I am a firm believer in the internet opens a massive world and pretty much anything anyone needs to know is out there.... if someone needs LCD bulbs, it's simply a google / eBay search away.... if they can't be arses to do that themselves then WTF shouldn't someone else take the time, do it for them and make a make up on the deal?

I think this was the point. There is nothing wrong with "adding value" in terms of insider knowledge, being prepared to take some time, doing some work, and making a good profit out of it. However that is no justification to despise your customers.

I'm struggling to reach an acurrate description for what I wanted to say!

I'd say you've identified a business opportunity which benefits both you and your valued(!) customers. Ideal!
Anyway, your customers probably think you are the dumb fuck because you have to grovel round sourcing, buying and fitting lights for them whilst they just sit around sipping their pink champagne and watching you work your socks off, for which they just have to chuck you a few bits of fancy paper. A bit like the Europeans encountering the natives who would do anything for some worthless glass beads!

Someone who is providing a better service, for an equal quality product and undercutting his opposition is not "ripping off" However if you are pricing too high, you in turn will be undercut. If you despise your customers and show them that kind of contempt, then eventually your name will get round and mud sticks.

do it for them and make a make up on the deal? Β TimeΒ isΒ money - and asking someone to donate their time usually means you have to pay for it - such as when you take your car in for a service - labour/time usually costs more than the parts. Β However, when I went to our local shop this afternoon and bought a packet of fish fingers the girl at the cash desk didn't yell "haha! You Dumb Fuck! You paid 5 Euros for those but we bought them for 50 cents!!" Lol. Took a bit longer than I expected but knew the forum dumbfuck would bite!!πππ
