Over the years I have found some really useful stuff thrown into the hedge by other boaters.
The highlight was a couple of Supataps (gooogle it!) which were in perfect order attached to a really shit quality sink which I threw back into the hedge. I fitted the taps in the boat I had at the time and I have to admit they were the best taps I have ever interacted with. Great taps.
I also had a Chappee French stove which to be fair was actually scrap and assorted other things including a stainless steel fuel tank. And other stuff..
So maybe throwing stuff in the hedge is actually a form of socially responsible recyling?
HTH !
Has anyone else had any really good shit out from canalside hedges?

I found a one wheeled fold up trolley on the ditch bank ( obviously thrown into the hedge but bounced off!) and found the missing wheel on the towpath about 100 yards away.. all fixed up and in use to this day! Also found a tenner stuck to the hedge side one blustery day whilst walking to the pub... I pissed it back up same hedge a few hours later!!!
I tend to chuck more into the hedge nowadays than find in themπ

so sad that an experienced secret agent has become so alienated from society that he enjoys interacting with taps.
MM, do you interact with them separately or as a threesome?

I like seeing people tap into a current theme However ...... sort of back on subject ..... I found my electric outboard in the skip at the boatyard ..... a quick strip down and clean and grease and the leaking gasket on the motor housing repaired .... Bingo !!! a nice little working Min Kota 38lb thrust unit

Not getting to close as I do not think there is anything I need but you never know there may be the end of a rainbow resting there...

You do have to be a bit circumspect when looking in canal side hedges.
I have found a lot of varying things. A pistol (turned out to be a broken BB gun!) Wood Television Wood stove Supataps and sink Cookers Fridges Motionless male human (drunk asleep in hedge) Dog shit Cat crap Boaters crap Ash
Other things.
Years ago I saw the Holy grail in a bush and I couldn't reach it. When I returned with my long shaft someone had taken it. Sadly.
