So does any go out or to work and you have a rough moment or something bad happens but it's just an occupational hazzard. Well today I went to work. Worked hard and got loads done when a meat thief came in. I got hold of him outside but still on the premesis had recovered the goods and let him go on his way. Next thing I know a big chap jumps out of a car and wants me to come over so we can sort it out. The other bloke pulls out an extendable baton and starts waving it around. So I ran inside. Last time someone threatened to stab me and I called the non emergency number an hour later and got told off. So this time I rang 999 straight away. Was told it would be filed as the steaks value was not enough. Even though I have his description, his name and reg. Thought nothing of it. Had a call at home and someone in t force is going mental that no one came to see me. Turned out they commited more crime in the new forest and the driver tried running over a pcso to escape. My meat thief was locked up in custody. Two hours later, statement made and cctv burned off. They are still looking for the car. anyone else had a not so perfect day? Not me but my sister is a guard at a supermarket, stopped a junkie who was tying to rob stuff, said junkie pulled a needle and stabbed her with it shouting i have HIV... It was a long wait for the all clear, but junkie got banged up which is good! Not good

Just to update you all. I received an invitation to court. He went before the court on the 6th and pleaded not guilty. He was kept on remand.
The trial is on the 22nd December where obviously I have to attend as s witness. Probably the only witness.
Quite scared to be honest. I don't do public speaking and the thought of getting cross examined worries me a little.
I will go and do my best.

You'll be fine. Ask the officer or cps if can refresh your memory from your statement and then when in court your brief will lead you through your account. If you are asked anything you are unsure about or dont know about, dont be afraid of saying you dont know. Dont try and guess what they want to hear, just say you dont know.
If you have said something that is wrong or incorrect dont be afraid to say you were wrong and it was an error. trying to make excuses only gets you deeper in confusion.
Its not too bad once youve done it, remember, Just give em the facts mam.

I didn't know you had done time. How long was it and what was it for? I've been in Brixton (on remand), Wandsworth, Wormwood Scrubs and Pentonville, maybe about four years in total. All for cannabis related offences.

Be polite to the judge....don't let them wind you up and as has been said if u don't know say and if they try to hurry you..go at your own pace and don't be worried about asking them to repeat anything... Ive been court a few times but mostly as observer as I was very interested in the procedure...once dated a guy who loved courts and saw it as a day out for us.....he was quite possibly the last of the romantics.....

I'll have to say I've enjoyed a few days watching in court. But never seen a proper trial. I'm more worried about public speaking as that really scares me. I think I will take the advice of one of our old directors. I had to do a store walk and I was only a lowly supervisor for Summerfield. I warned him that I get nervous and start waffling. It's weird as I can hold court down the pub. He told me to imagine we were having a beer down the local and the visit went really well. It's why I don't do interviews all the information and knowledge is up there but I can't get it from my brain to my mouth. I've been told if it's gets too much I just have to say so and can get a few minutes breather.

My sister had to be a witness in a trial and an inquest and she went completely to pieces....whereas I'm more confident..this is probably due to the fact that I've faced some pretty unpleasant situations and got through. Court as witness seemed mild in comparison..deep breathing helps prior to facing them...in for count of 7 out for 11....changes chemical composition of the mind and reduces anxiety...that I had been taught during my illness and I use whenever I get shakey...good luck..

Well today is the day.
Just spoken to the prosecutor. I have read all your advice and taken on board.
Good news is the trial is set to last 3 hours and they have just cancelled the other trial. So this is the only on for that court.
But nerve racking as it's my word against his.
But I won't elaborate and will just answer the questions asked.
Don't feel very well which is not helping.

A result half an hour into his trial and he asked to change his plea.
He's pleaded guilty.
