A but, if we ban motorcycling the supply of organ donors dries up. Gazza, a lapsed motorbicyclist. good point. it should be a requirement for passing the motorbike licence test that the rider should have an organ donor agreement tattooed in large letters across his (or her) chest and again across his back. if nothing else it would make the rider think about his future every morning when he looks in the mirror.

On this we agree (but only for tarmac terrorists) I got so fed up with the power ranger mob that I mothballed my road bikes as I wasn't getting the enjoyment out of them. They are a minor inconvenience in the car, often aggressive and riding way beyond their abilities. Many look like an accident looking for somewhere to happen. The biggest problem I see is the fact modern bike performance - even on hum drum machines is way beyond days of old. While the pursuit test is supposed to see if a rider is safe and capable of passing a test, it can't factor in the mindset of the candidate. I'd have failed most of the Muppets i see on two wheels just for being potential arseholes. Dirt bikes are a different kettle of fish, at least we keep our injuries and risk to ourselves and don't put Joe and Josephine public at so much risk.

I broke my wrist taking a group of novices out, 4 week's after a major car smash where I bust the corner off C7 in my neck (I was a passenger) and 4 weeks before I was getting married. Got cross rutted looking behind me for my charges, slow speed minor off but landed awkwardly and bust my right wrist. Didn't admit defeat until 13 hours later having continued riding for the day, changed a pair of wheels on the car and did chauffer duties to Milton Keynes for a party

But I wouldn't like to see them banned.

People who do silly things should have their own private insurance for the medical service bills they incur when they hurt themselves. that would include boating then. ................ don't ask me why.

Smokers, drinkers, people who eat too much. People who don't follow the highway code. People who don't follow the green cross code. And all sorts of idiots. Nhs would be in excellent condition without all of those.

I'm sure reckless cyclists cause more damage than canal boats (boat on boat, I'm not thinking of all the canal infrastructure they smash up - lock gates, bridge corners, etc.) so why do we have to pay Β£150/year for insurance for our boat? Well, yes, that includes fire & theft & sinking, but 3rd-Party must be in there somewhere. I don't see what's wrong with (some)cyclists being made to have insurance, and a registration sign on their bicycle. Perhaps a small sum, say Β£1/day - but also with a guarantee that in case of serious/expensive injury/damage their BMW/house/children will be sold to pay for it. cart could put a loading on the boat licence for the number of bikes carried aboard, measured by length at rest obviously. My one brompton is tiny, at rest.
