I was chucking big neodymium magnets in before most people even knew they existed.
Problem I have noticed is recently people seem to be hauling shit out of the cut and leaving it on the towpath so it looks like a dump. I put things back in (apart from trolleys). Pretty sure there is a CRT bye law which prohibits magnet fishing in the cut anyway. I would suspect that CRT will be onto it and officially ban it a some stage if it becomes too popular. there have also been problems with people jamming paddles up with magnets apparently.
I can't be arsed any more because I'll just get lumped in with the hobbyists who don't see the bigger picture and may not understand the damage they can cause with very powerful magnets.
They might pull the fekkin plug out !!

I've had a couple of plugs out but they were decommissioned ones. People say it as a joke but there actually were plugs in some places with chains attached. Aiui there is one in the middle of pointy silty acqueduct which is where the news story woman found her mortar. Not sure if it is magnetic thought.

Yes the ones I pulled out were like that. I wonder if the one to drain the acqueduct may be secured in such a way as to prevent accidental removal. It would be quite serious if someone did get it out unauthorised !!

I've also seen the piles of metal junk left here and there next to the cut. In my naivety I thought it was crt cleaning the junk up and a van would be along to collect it. But now you mention it I see it isn't.

Reminds me of Mr Stabby's Welshman sex joke "mother was watching". I don't want reminding of this sort of thing.
