Hi y`all Ok, i have lost it now, i am a calm chap but outside the front of our house and the up the Rd those low life lazy folk dont clean up after there dogs, i catch them at times like this week i did and had a word in a sensibly manner , ` it wasnt my dog` is all i got. when i just see it happen. he lets his dog shit all over, seen it happen many many times by him and his mutts. Thinks he is a hard man, yes one of them knobs with two big Saffies. Well only as his family was once one of them you did not mess with type, passed bloody caring now. And no time for that kind of scum. It happens all to often now, even up our path once or twice. 99% of the dogs are on lead so the owner will be close by to be caught. Last night i got out of my van and stood in it. So time to see if i can sort this out, folk on my road have complained and hog signs put up, as if thats any good. Now i need to sort it out with proof to send to the council/wardens. I am looking for a dash cam for this idea. This one has caught my eye as it has night time feature and motion sensor. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nextbase-402G-Professional-Car-Dash-Dashboard-Video-Camera-2-7-1080P-HD-DVR-Cam/111703667323?epid=1826261857&hash=item1a020eb27b:g:DJMAAOSwhQhY61Csidea is to set it up either in the boat ( on the drive ) or in my van or T`s car to cover the front of our house along the pavement. Any thoughts on other cameras folks, max £100 fund.

Speak to the council/wardens first to find out what you can do to help them. Otherwise you might still be left with a problem and poorer for it.

Any thoughts on other cameras folks, max £100 fund. It's not suitable for what you want to use it for. The motion detector only activates on an impact to the vehicle it is installed in, its not activated by movement of someody simply passing across it. Ideally you need a simple cctv camera on the house covering the area of concern. I won't get into the ins and outs of cctv and it possibly encoaching in neighbours properties.

Martin's right. A dash cam wouldn't really help you here Faffer. Ideally, you would want a cctv system. There's plenty on Flea Bay, like this one here.......... Clicky Link, which if you choose only 2 camera's comes in at £95:99 (and they're infra red night vision job's. I also know that if you tell your house insurance company that you have a cctv system installed, they do give quite a discount off your premium. This discount could then be utilised for purchasing yer Ye Olde Dashcam Kit for the man and his van job.

I've got one mounted (well stuck) to the window at the front of the boat... as has been said, the motion detector part of it is useless... ALL it does is "lock" the particular recording when it senses a bit of a knock... in my case, I've got 3 "locked" on the memory card from a windy day in June when we had a few - let's call them FIRM kisses up above Skipton.
It's quite nice that it records as soon as power is switched on - I've set ours to break them into 15 min videos and when we go somewhere different, I turn it on to keep a record. OF course we need to remember it records sound too - the amount of toilet flushes we hear is embarrassing!

A wildlife camera would do the job, the motion sensor is set up to do what you want it to do.

I must of got the motion sensor bit wrong then, somebody suggested this and as i read back he has set it to a PIR motion sensor.
Then main idea was to use a dash cam and just leave it running on a low resolution setting so then it will last longer than the 4 hours before it records over the SD card again.
I will look at a few CCTV again, just being lazy, getting into to tech stuff again which i need a night time course in to get my head around all the jargon, bad enough understanding USB, SD, resolution, transfering stuff etc etc.
Not to bright you see lol.

Of course if it's pointing in completely the opposite direction from where your vehicle was hit it's a feature that is of debatable value.

To get any value from using CCTV you really need one which captures images in as high a resolution as possible. Very often images captured on domestic (and some commercial!) CCTV cameras are of such poor quality that they are effectively of no value what so ever if you are trying to identify an individual. You may still get some deterrent value from it just being there of course.

I agree there as to pic quality, mate over the road has a dam good one set up and cost a good few hundred quid but the pic is still not what you would expect from it. Also the reason in a dash cam, good pic quality. My phone is better than CCTV images, just dont want to be sat taking the video and hanging about for hours on end lol.

I seem to recall that it's legally OK to photograph anyone in a public place. The problem comes with the neighbours garden, if they should 'expect privacy' (being the words that count). For some reason, It is nice to talk to you, MJG, even if you were once a miserable old giffer!
