What's often forgotten in this kind of debate, is that the vast majority of benefits are paid to people in work. Maybe companies should start paying decent wages rather than getting handouts from the goverment.

Watch out for a rebranding of what's happening which is out of control to Universal Income as some politicians pretend to be doing it on purpose, that it's a good thing and will make everything fair, while cynically steering it to accidentally do the exact opposite.

And this has precisely what to do with abuse of the benefits system?

"And this has precisely what to do with abuse of the benefits system?" - a scrounger is a scrounger, and I think someone who expects to be paid 20 years' worth of their normal wages because they had a little fright is someone who's hoping that others will get up at 4.30am and go to work and pay 'into the system' so they can have a nice lounge about for the next 20 years. A plane engine on fire is a rarity, perhaps British Airways should charge her for the entertainment. Hardly suitable for the work was she? BA should sue her for obtaining a job under false pretences.

I thought the same reading the article. Talking about everyone on the plane panicking, surely part of being a steward on a plane is to dispel the panic in the case of a serious incident. I'm fairly sure they would be trained towards this purpose.
