Made I chuckle.
It reminded me of the poor fella who'd been waiting to film The Flying Scotsman all day, only to have his effort thwarted at the last second by one of weirdie beardie's Virgin trains passing in front of it at the crucial moment.

Yes this one - and apparently in this case the poor sod had waited for hours. Conversely I got a bit jammy catching this HST double pass last year at Cromwell.

Trainspotters don't have much luck! August bank holiday 2015 Tornado was at Nene Valley Railway for their steam gala. We also were heading home from a summer stay on the Great Ouse with a mid way halt at Peterborough Yacht Club. What do the two have to do with each other? Well, the access to PYC is via Goldie lane, all the gates are locked with a club key including the motorist operated level crossing for the NVR. We turned up to drop a car off so we could have wheels at both places. Unfortunately a train enthusiast had set his camera gear up inside the swing of the gate. I pulled up with my Mrs behind me in the Alfa, Politely asked the agitated man to move his tripod and other gubbins so we could open the gate and go across the level crossing, matey got a bit humpy ranting in about it being the best spot to get a photo. Lovely says I, please can you allow me to operate the crossing safely. With a lot of huffing he shifted his kit I guess looking back it was a bit mean of me not to tell him we'd be coming back thorough in about 15 minutes..... When we reappeared to say he was a bit annoyed was something of an understatement! What I couldn't understand was why he thought we'd be the only one using the lane that day 😵

Had he not been so bloody rude I'd have gladly let him know, 15 minutes was about right for Him to get sorted and set up again Anyway, he may have had a train to catch but we couldn't miss the tide 🚢⚓😀

There's a crossing near Prickwillow in Cambs where the steam fans gather to take pics when one goes past. It's approach is a curve on the railway line and the road isn't busy but it used to be en route to my unit. I would never slow down for them and they had to scurry out of the way like chickens. They were only risking it in the road to bag a place before the barriers came down. Grumpy looking feckers I always thought.

Home to this throbbing lump (giggle etc ) Seriously though. The museum at Prickwillow is ace, as is the mooring adjacent to it.

Generally the countryside equiv of hipsters taking over a shit hole and gentrifying it, otherwise good for home produced honey, arty er stuff and er stuff, interspersed with knuckle dragging inbred locals.

We've never got further than the museum. Dad has been in the Hiam social club - I can't remember what he made of it though.

The phone box art gallery is amusing, it changes every month and I stopped for a look at every one for 8 years as I passed by.
