Just watched the news to see that as predicted up to 4 inches of rain fell last night bringing misery to many. Now I had seen this was being threatened for the last couple of days but on the news there was the usual whining and whinging that "we weren't warned, nobody told us" What's wrong with these people? are they incapable of checking out the weather forecast or looking at a weather app or, (I know this is a bit extreme) sign up for free on the EA flood warning line. You get a auto phone call, which repeats calling till you respond by pressing a key to say you have heard the warning Am I sympathetic? Er NO Phil

Canal up and over the towpath here, a lot of roads impassable, and spent most of the night sandbagging friends houses, it's all good fun!

Where's the bad flooding up that way? My daughter parks her car on Highland Brow, left at the traffic lights, whilst she's at Uni during the week, just a bit concerned it's going be ok!😔

I do the the A69 run from Newcastle to J43 and the lot are flooded today.
Last few days so they had been repairing the field that had got washed away from the last flood opposite Warwick hall at Warwick bridge, all dug out and was bagging up a dam to by the looks of it divert the river before next flood. well by the looks of it today they didnt make it in time as the filed is fully submerged again.

I think you are being overly harsh, yellow/amber warnings happen so often that they get ignored by many people.

It is up to people to look out for themselves . The rain was forecast ie the world and his dog knew it was going to happen and should have acted on that knowledge Recent years have shown that biblical rain is now a fact and not uncommon. Most people have a smart phone and the weather apps that can be downloaded are extremely accurate and can be relied on. And as I pointed out in my OP the EA have an excellent free flood warning, all you have to do is register and you will automatically get a warning for your area Whining "nobody told us " just doesn't hack it. Phil Well just tried to sign our address for these warnings and the service doesn't cover us. They can't cover areas subject to the potential for flash flooding due to surface water it seems so it's far from a universal help for everybody.

Theres a bit of road down from me that keeps flooding...looked as if the dreaded weed was so thick over the wall it went through wall and helped block water course...theyve been digging out and excavating during summer and i did notice that floods not as bad there...just waiting now for the walls to collapse as you just know its gotta happen...People ignore until summit happens and then then decide time to do summit....

True, not everywhere is covered but a combination of my other points should be sufficient for people to take action prior to floods hitting and give them a better chance of evening the odds. From a personal point of view, if I lived where flash flooding was a possibility I would have invested in flood proofing by fitting flood gates to doors and flood seals to air bricks. That way I would be in with a chance Phil

Its actually adjacent to the River Tees. The service doesn't cover there either! Let's not forget some of these areas that get flooded haven't been often for years sometimes decades so I think it reasonable for some people not to have taken anti flood measures. A small part of our village flooded a couple of years back and no body could remember it ever doing so in living memory. It was put down to ongoing construction and changes to the nearby landscape.

The Lancaster can't flood too badly thankfully. Any news on the car?? That whole area was under more than 2ft of water!!!! Pretty sure this photo was taken round the back of there... and that's a garden wall not a weir
