The Bristol to Portishead line was refurbished recently and carries huge (Australian) coal trains from Royal Portbury Dock. It is on the list for opening new passenger services. Only part of the line is open, much work needs to be done to create a viable passenger solution, costs are skyrocketing, project hasn't even passed GRIP 3 yet, no new money being made available - unlikely to get the go-ahead in next 10 years is my opinion (and this is a line that would be heavily used by passengers. Pic of the line just to the west of Portbury 2 years ago. today the ever-reliable beeb stated that it could be re-opened all the way to P'head within 4 years.
