The selfish rich again, the peasants must give way to them, and the Police are licking the arses of the wealthy once again. What idiots built this thing in Oundle, knowing it would have to go by road to Ipswich? Why not build it in Ipswich? Who are the new owners - Russians? At 1:15 looks like it got scratched. Good. Oundle - Home of Fairline boats, started by Jack Newington in a gravel pit that provided aggregate for the numerous WW2 airfields close by. www.oundlemarina.com/They now operate out of premises off the Oundle bypass building up to 60' boats with only one shop on the original Barnwell road site producing Fairline boats. a new site opening is opening in Hythe to produce >60' boats (having shut Corby when they nearly folded in 2015) It's a far cry from the original 19 that got the ball rolling. www.jonesboatyard.co.uk/boat-sales/fairline-19-family-boats-for-sale.htmlI should think the last production model that could get down the river a bit from OM was the carerra 24, everything else was dunked in with a gantry crane on a cradle to make sure it was watertight and then delivered to its new owner.

I thought Fairline had gone out of business but I see it was saved by a couple of Russian businessmen. I suppose that's a Good Thing really as they still make the boats in the UK

Quite amusing how they describe a £2 million boat as a "large yacht". Its relatively big but not large at the end of the day.

I read the thread title as "How to transport a 2 Metre yacht over land ?", and thought "No problem."

Surprising really, I walked around there not 3 weeks ago and the place looked derelict. Plenty of liveaboards/semi's in the marina area, some forlorn old heaps just about floating too.
Maybe they build them inside now?
When I last visited a few years ago and the place was afloat with resin/woven roven/fibreglass etc with some boats in various stages of completion even one having its engines run up in wet dock.

See my post above! Not much boat building going on at the Barnwell road site. English Harbour Yachts have relocated to Brundal, having been asked to vacate their shop so Fairline can use it for Targa production, you may have missed it as it's way over the back by the lock. All the other shops are rented for various motor vehicle concerns, a corner of the yard by what was the forklift charging bay is now a scratch your car for a £5 Eastern European paint ruining gang

bloody hell! with a spread of sail like that we'd better hope the wind doesn't get up.............. it wouldn't only be the wind that gets up - the skirts would too, with the whole rig going tits up, if the female ballast doesn't manage to stay in place.
