Just over 11 months since my last visit to Bedford Road Northampton for a service on the car and it was due again!
Same as last time, I dropped the car off and set off on foot.
The nearly finished Northampton uni campus on the site of the old Nunn Mills power station.
I don't think it's doing a very good job of fitting in with its surroundings, the Avon works is more attractive than this.
The river was frozen in Beckett's park but didn't come out well on the phone so I've left them out.
Having had my breakfast at Morrison's I headed off on the same route as in January.
I came across this rather optimistically powered narrow boat on the embankment.
My 3.2m inflatable is too slow with a 4hp outboard!
On to the back of Carlsberg on the West bridge arm and the little springer is now burnt out and sunk
Last year:-
Further up the arm and despite me acknowledging the IWA Northampton efforts at keeping the West bridge navigable it would appear they have their work cut out (or quite possibly given it up....)
This is looking back towards Carlsberg from the Towcester Road bridge B&Q to the right.
This is looking up towards the mooring behind the St James Retail Park.
The graffiti behind the retail park has changed!
January 2017
December 2017 - looking the opposite way
On up into town for a spot of Christmas shopping and I remembered to take a snap of this old place.
Ian Nairn was scathing of what NDC did to the town centre when the Grovesnor Centre went up, sweeping away some interesting buildings in its path. What a shame the Grovesnor is now out of favour with many units empty and not many shoppers about
Getting in for journeys end, St Giles Street church.
If a building could speak it would have a tail to tell about Northamptons fortunes over the years.
Monument to Edward VII outside the General Hospital on the busy junction of Billing Brook Road, Cheyne walk and St Giles Street - I wonder how many people who pass this daily in their cars even know it's there?

And last but by no means least, this is where it all began on a Stormy Thursday June night in 1979
