For the last couple of weeks Eric hasnt been well, last night I knew he was proper poorly this morning he was laid in bottom of cage dead. His mate Sid is looking a bit sad and lonely I think its new budgy time. I have had a couple that lasted 12 years plus but these new budgies dont seem to be long lasting at all, maybe its because of to intensive breeding to get the perfik budgy who knows? RIP Eric

Oh my goodness I know it may be sad...but I had to laugh! Eric is a deceased budgie, and as for long lasting...its the batteries that are the key. Make sure Sid has new batteries, get the ones that are on the top perch. Choose a good breeder wisely, budgie farming is an international market now and prices are not cheep. Feathers fly at the competition to lay stocks in for Christmas. Remember a budgie is for life. (sincere apologies if you really are distraught about Eric!) I am upset about him worse their wasnt anything I could do about it vets cant help so you just have to cross your fingers and hope they pull through. My mate lost his granny today thats a disaster but with luck Eric will be there to look after her

A budgie is for Christmas. Although one isn't really enough. Image comes to mind of Frenchman eating ortolan. They hang a rag over their face and eat the Tweety birds whole.

Peter, when you are out of mourning, may I suggest 2 cats as "company" for t'other one - AND entertainment for Taff. AS luck would have it, I have just the creatures here - free to a good home, complete with insurance, life-time inoculations and chips.

Poor Eric is no more...spare a thought for little Sid who saw his mate come crashing to the floor..... I think he got onto the cage bottom on his own he was in the corner just laid there. When the others have died it has been falling off a perch routine! Eric however was poorly the night before so it was no surprise to find him dead. He is now buried in a jelly bean tin [collectors edition] in the Budgie graveyard next to the boat. I am thinking of getting a mate for Sid as he plays to rough for Taff!!

Sorry to hear you've lost one of your tweety friends.
I must confess though, I have thoroughly enjoyed the repartee this morning

From Wikipedia The ortolan is then eaten whole, or without the head and the consumer spits out the larger bones. The traditional way French gourmands eat ortolans is to cover their heads and face with a large napkin or towel while consuming the bird. The purpose of the towel is debated.

Sorry to hear you've lost one of your tweety friends. I must confess though, I have thoroughly enjoyed the repartee this morning As well as the loss of Eric I have to sort out the door on Ray the rayburn, the top firedoor has lost its grip on the stud and popped open last night! It nearly killed Taff and Sid the whole boat stinks of woodsmoke! So this morning its a grinder job and a chimney clean to restore order to the boat and warmth of Joyce
