Don't normally see many ads on the banner below posts, but yesterday saw one for Kaspersky Labs. They are getting desperate, their name is mud these days. Or are they spying on us, with (shhhh, quick look round paranoid stylee) our resident spies?

Just asking but why is their name mud? They seem to do a good job protecting me. Phil

Because they are a Russian company and it's been mooted that there might be links to the Russian state security services with regards to infiltrating western computers. They claim to be totally free of state influence, but government departments etc are getting rid and Barclays are no longer supplying it as a freebie through their digital skills programme.

They claim to be totally free of state influence, but government departments etc are getting rid and Barclays are no longer supplying it as a freebie through their digital skills programme. That's the problem, nobody knows if they give the Russian security services access or not and they can only ever answer 'no' if asked. I suppose if he dies from drinking polonium tea then we know he refused when 'asked' to give access.............
