Users Online in the Last 24 Hours
1 Staff, 51 Members, 388 Guests.
I've been looking at this for a while already, and noticed that there are often around 50 Members, but almost always between 300 and 400 guests
When I occasionally look at birthdays (not something I'm really interested in) I often see the birthday of someone who became member, with the first and last day of their visit the same date, rather strange, as there wouldn't have been any need to become a member to read the forum.

A lot of the guests are bots (robots) that trawl the web looking to populate mr Google’s (etc) databases, so that when someone searches for “mr Stabby” up pops a nice picture of vince.

I suppose some are members just reading without logging in.

They are CWDF members who enjoy visiting and reading but are reluctant to become members for fear that the idiot in charge of CWDF will ban them from CWDF.

Well I don’t think that’s true, several of us on here are open about it on the other channel, and no consequences. I think it’s more about reputation and worrying about what others might think. In the same way that people visiting a brothel prefer to keep it quiet.

How can you tell? Not that I’m disagreeing, I’m just interested. As Site Admin, Delta9 will be able to see the identities of bots which have visited. But that’s my question - what is the visible difference between a visiting bot and a visiting person?

Presumably the bots are known to be bots because they admit it. But couldn’t there also be bots in disguise as humans? If not why do so many websites these days have means to eliminate bots from creating accounts etc - the Captcha thing that requires human intelligence?
