Slept like a log Me too, it was blowing a gale though when I went off to work though and it was still dark so I haven't gotten a chance to check for any damage/ missing items yet. "Haven't HAD a chance"

We had hired a cottage in Staithes old village We were there on Monday - Staithes 1310-1510 (car park ticket as evidence). The barmaid in The Royal George had the most amazing bazookas, almost falling out! I took some pics (of the village, not her boobs). Perhaps you spotted us - and hid! Haha! Well I didn't see you so I cant say I hid. Would have been good to chat though. We arrived on the Saturday and left yesterday. Didn't venture into the George but the family gravitated to the Cod and Lobster which was literally on our door step. BTW if you paid for parking at the top car park you robbed yourself as parking charges have been suspended until March 2018. Presumably to encourage winter visitors. Lydia finds that amusing. PPS Staithes is about 15-20 minutes from where I live.

We spoke to the men emptying the parking meters. We paid £2.50 for 2 hours. I think I threw the ticket away. However, I can still write to the car park owner and ask for our money back... or I shall have to kill them. The top car park is council owned. The meter I went to had a black bag on it with a notice on it saying parking charges suspended. I was glad because I'd stupidly left my coat with all my change in at the bottom with Jan in the cottage.

The men emptying the meters said nothing about no charge. I assume that's the top car park, are there more than one up there? If free, then obviously still happy to rake in what's coming out of the ticket machines! I suppose the money goes to a good cause (Staithes in general?) - but I might write just to annoy them. That £2.50 would keep a child in Ethiopia alive for a week. And now it has to die. A curse on Staithes Council employees for their dishonesty! It wouldn't be the first time a council has suspended parking charges but not disabled the ability of their machines to take money. There is as far as i know only one car park at the top, did you walk up the road way back to your car or via. the steps?

There were a few steps on the left at the top of the road - I didn't see any steps as a là Whitby. I'll write if I have time. What's the name of the local newspaper so they can be fingered by the Press?! You walked by the road then. Had you taken the steps you would have walked directly in front of our rental cottage.
