I see Kodak are getting into the cryptocurrency game. I thought they were dead and gone.
I wonder if they will bring out a Polaroid version, where you can print out your cash after about 30 seconds.

Can you imagine what it would be like to have had a load of Bitcoins and to have sold them for $10, and then a bit later they are selling for $17,000? I would just be so pissed off, my financial ineptitude would haunt me each and every day. I may have only bought them for $2 but the minuscule profit, long since spent on (maybe) a Chinese take-away, would be scant consolation. I think I would probably buy a stool from a second-hand furniture shop, write "CUNT" on the back of it in big letters with a permanent marker, then spend all day sitting on it. The only people that held on to some from the start are people that were already rich and didn't need the money, or those that forgot they had them. It was also a much higher risk back then than it is now. I needed the money at the time, it got me out of the shit, and after I sold the price dropped to $2 and stayed there for a few years so it seemed like I'd made a good decision at the time. When the market came back to life I bought some back, so I have no regrets. We all could've invested our life savings in Apple or Google stock 10 years ago, but we didn't. Serious question. You say that your boat is unsuited to your needs as a liveaboard boater in numerous ways, so why don't you just sell three or four of these Bitcoins and buy a really good one?

That was the plan, but now my dad is gone I'm unsure wht to do. I'm undecided between getting a new boat and staying here or fucking off away from the UK again.

I have you in an age group of late 30's. I may well be wrong about that, but anyway, in your position, I would be gone. I would say investing long term to live on the canals here would waste your money. The 50+ generation will be the last to see the canals for what they were. In fact, I would say the best years of the canals have past. It's all downhill from now on. Use this opportunity to stretch your legs and get out there.

Bitcoin now down to $10,061. Sucks to have bought a shed load last month.

It did seem to be pushed hard lately. I don't have a TV or read newspapers. Just a phone which I use to do boat related internet shit and read news. Bitcoin ads everywhere.
I decided to invest in Beercoins instead. You can use these to pay for beer. No transaction fees etc. I am now a beer miner. It's excellent.
What I never understood is if something is so great and you can make shed loads of money out of it why would you tell everyone else about it ?
I would have thought the best plan would be to keep it to yourself and just take the money and run, or walk or just drive, sail or whatever off into the sunset.

"Alien" things. Is there a new investment opportunity here ? D you want to tell us about it (I wouldn't), I quite like dabbling in a bit of moon dirt and other extraterrestrial things like that. Saturn rings apparently Uranus is quite an interesting futures option. Pm is OK if you prefer not to tell everyone else (other than d9 who obviously reads all personal messages) . I would quite like to find a genuine high yield no risk investment for my rapidly running out cashpile . What I fear most is actually having to go to work at some point.

I think there will be a massive sell-off (much of it automatically computer-generated) when Bitcoin drops through the $10,000 barrier, then it will be toast.

Price will go down from here, stabilise for a while then bubble again.
