I put an old mobile phone (old Nokia push button one) in the fire earlier, complete with battery. Sort of greenish tinge to the flame and disappointingly no explosion. why?

I put an old boatman in the fire earlier, complete with welly boots and pipe. Sort of blackish tinge to the flame and an awful smell. Old boatmen never die, they just stink the place out. Luckily I don't have a CO or smoke alarm.
