A few questions that have been puzzling me for a while..
Why don't British supermarkets sell half chickens?
Why don't they sell rabbit?
Why is duck so expensive when the country is infested with them?
When did sausages turn into tasteless tubes of 98% meat?
What do they do to the chicken breasts that makes them have that weird and unnatural texture?
What do they do to the cows to make the steak so awful?
Where does the delicious skirt steak end up?
Why are the prawns so small?
What should I buy for dinner that won't be a disappointment?

gosh ...you seem to expect our tasteless chains to sell quality meat products.... This am I discovered a little gem of an independent butchers that also runs a cafe next door and steakhouse pub over the road(apparently this is fully booked for weeks)...I'm not a big meat eater but the selection in the butchers shop enough to turn any vegetarian from their chosen path.....sadly this place not local.....but i am sure there must be others....maybe we should start naming excellent purveyors of edible meats.....

Two things(ok,plus decent drinking establishments) we look for when boating-are a decent bakery & a decent butcher.Meat certainly tastes better than supermarket stuff although have to agree that Aldi steaks are pretty good.Just back from Lanzagrotty where I had veal, rabbit, mutton & some delicious fish I'd never heard of!The seafood was superb as well.

I've never had Lanzagrotty but am willing to give it a go. As for meat, the farm across the River has it's own butcher's shop all stock is his own and I can tell you that none of his beasts died in vain. Phil

Shame on you with that window shopping, Mrs BB!! - you should be spending that time making your own bread - so easy, so good ....
But I can only agree, no time is wasted on finding good drinking establishments.

I use Underwoods across the road from us for meat they supply butchers and for the most part I have never had a failure from them, the bonus is the price which way undercuts supermarkets and and butchers win win for me

Dearly beloved makes all our bread at home...in a breadmaker. It might be classed as cheating but always tastes good.I especially like the rye bread & bread with caraway seeds😋.

Rye bread - Finland's speciality! What about 'kalakukko' made with rye crust? it's fish inside - whitebait.

Support your local butcher/fishmonger, if you still have one.
