Nope, def. not.. Shan't be reading, no way... I hate blogs. Never read them apart from when doing random searches about boats or whatever. I did once think about starting a blog describing my bowel movements. It was going to be called the "daily bog blog". I couldn't be arsed to actually to it though. Why would anyone give a shit about my shit ?

I'm a saddo that reads Quaysiders blog 'Ellis the boat'. In light of his most recent post, that description 'spoilshorts' certainly applies to him You're all going to go off and read it now, be honest he he Rog I've read some of Quaysider's blog although I don't follow it regularly simply because much of it mirrors my own experience as a boater. It was interesting to read his opinions of Ramsgate, my home town for over 30 years when he visited, and as a long standing member of the Save Dreamland campaign it is fascinating to read his posts about vintage fairground ride restorations. Quaysider does make a valuable contribution to the internet and I feel that I could probably like him if only he wasn't ginger. I like visiting Ramsgate. The best part of the day is when the sun is going down, relaxing on the beach knowing that in 10 minutes we'll be safely in the car on the way home

On the plus side, the seascapes are beautiful and the air is wonderfully fresh, the island being surrounded on three sides by the sea and with no polluting industry for miles around.

That's true. Another area I quite like is Sheppey. I was down there the other day buying another yot. Nice relaxing area but not ideal for people aiming to live the high life.

Today, Albert had its BSS exam carried out by Clive Naylor. He tells me that his 'standard price' will increase from £145 to £160 from April 1st.
**** Edited to add the £145 has remained unchanged for more than 4 years.

BSS charges form a small part of what an examiner charges you.
I am sure that all examiners will increase charges above the BSS increases.

I see NaughtyCal is chatting the same shit as Nick did about ventilation.
We have never had to make any modifications but each examiner has made comments on different items which the others did not. One flagged us up as not having adequate fixed ventilation. The BSS clearly makes allowances for sea going boats on the fixed ventilation requirements which he chose to discount.
I think Ian is the one local examiner we have not used yet. I suspect we will use him next year.
There are no exemptions for sea going boats as they too are subject to only an advisory check.
Nick agreed he had got it wrong - i wonder if NC would do the same.

Yes I did get it wrong, but with deaths due to CO poisoning being popular, it seems unwise to encourage people to not have what is considered the correct amount of fixed ventilation.

Nobody was looking to do anything of the sort. (Bronze star for your attempt to make little of your being wrong).
