There is plenty of evidence that certain types of trauma/ptsd are socially constructed. It is a hard subject to discuss as it can seem to some that it lessens the offence that causes the initial trauma. It is important that it is considered and discussed because a lot of the counselling and treatment that people receive could actually be making things worse Hallejula, there is another person on here with some intelligence and capable of independent thought! Although it has to be said I’m slightly embarrassed that you have managed to say what I was thinking, so concisely and succinctly! And also he managed not to denergrate those that didnt agree with his opinions by calling them thick etc. It devalues your argument doing that and just rights you off as a sanctimonious prick.

I didn’t denigrate anyone for having a different opinion. I denigrated people for not being able to read and interpret my posts, written in plain English, either because they were thick or because they deliberately wanted to find a different meaning. Bearing in mind the several people who directly lied about what I said, who quoted my posts but edited/changed them to suit their purpose, perhaps mostly the latter. When this happens, the debate is stifled because it gets bogged down with me pointing out repeatedly that it was not what I said, as opposed to debating any cogently made counterpoints. Perhaps that too was the aim.

The difference between proposing something for consideration, rather than asserting you are right and everyone else is just thick. I hope the hallejula moment was recognition of that Rog

You are right in only one point - I would have been a shit nurse. But then again, surely good nurses are trained, not born? Combination of both in my experience. I've worked with nurses who were well trained but just didn't cut it on the 'people skills' side of thing's, a bit like you, or rather how you come across in your posts. I am not a “born nurse” although it has to be said that having lived with one for 25 years, I’d be a lot better at it now than I would have been 25 years ago! Anyway, I think I can say you would have been a shit helicopter pilot. An important part of of being a commercial pilot in a multi-crew environment is the ability to get on with people whilst jointly determining the best course of action, including when under pressure/very short timescales. Your delight and enthusiasm for arguing for the sake of it rules you out.

The thickness was evident because people were unable to read and interpret plain English and were misquoting and misrepresenting me. A pretty normal technique on here for people who are too thick and lazy to propose any cogent counter argument. Perhaps it is not thickness but merely nasty deviousness?

Next time (although with this sequence of events being repeated every time there is an interesting topic to debate, maybe there won’t be a next time - it’s just a waste of time) I suggest you do not study my posts looking carefully for any possible grounds for offence, and when you don’t find any nevertheless alter what I have said so as to achieve the aim. Then I can concentrate on debating any counter-view you may put forward, rather than defending my own position in the face of lies and misrepresentation. Your choice.

Anyway, here is the template for the next debate:
Telemachus: “... I therefore think the answer is 4.”
Random TBer: “ How can you possibly think the answer is 5! You are such a terrible person”
Telemachus: “No, read my post, I said the answer was 4”
Another random TBer: “If you think the answer is 5 you are a fool. I really hope never to meet you on the cut, you have no idea what you are talking about”
Repeat ad infinitum.

Well if you understand it's an insult I fail to grasp why you don't know what I am talking about. Yes, sorry I forgot you were thick. Let me explain in simpler terms: You have no idea what I might be like as a pilot in a multi-crew environment. You don’t know me, nor do you have any idea about the relevant issues. Nevertheless you claim “I bet a flight with you was an utter joy. Not. I'm surprised they thing got off the ground given the size of your head.” which is therefore just a random and uninformed insult for the sake of it. Of course this serves amply to demonstrate your tremendous desire to argue unpleasantly about anything, any time, even when no argument actually exists. Thank you.

... which is a shame really, as your behaviour stifles many other potentially interesting debates, they get bogged down in pointless arguments. I suppose you just can’t help yourself.
