Thinking of a visit into Brum.
Has anyone visited the museum and would you recommend it?

We wanted to but never Did, I would recommend a visit to the new library. Quite something. We had to visit all the viewing platforms too.
It holds the Shakespeare memorial room originally built in 1882 but moved twice. It contains 43000 books and is one of two most important Shakespeare collections in the world. And it's right by the canal.

Bang on about the library, it's superb.
Definitely worth a visit.
The Jewellery Quarter Museum does a guided tour for £7 each. Apparently the workshops are exactly as they were left when the place closed down. Sounds worth a visit.

Thanks for that.
We went to the NT back to backs on our last visit.
Any NT member who's not been, it is well worth the visit (but you have to book).
Worth a visit for everyone but none members have to pay.

You have to book for a guided tour.
Google 'Birmingham back to backs'.
They're in China town so easy to access.
We enjoyed it.

Not been there. It's just jewellery and stuff. You'd be better off going to the Black Country Living Museum, they've got trams and old motorbikes and fish and chips cooked in beef dripping.

Hobbs’ Fish & Chip Shop We reckon our chips are the best! Our world famous fish & chips cooked in beef dripping are certainly worth the wait. The 1930s fish & chip shop offers traditionally cooked finest cod, roe and chips; reputed to be the best in the midlands using beef dripping for frying. www.bclm.co.uk/visiting/where-to-eat--drink/21.htm

Dripping on toast = yummy - Lard on toast = revolting. As for the fish and chip shop - posh gits!

Have been to both, prefer the jewellery museum. It’s not just jewellery its a time capsule of a dying industry.

We've been to the Black Country museum, although not by boat.
It is an excellent day out.
Have you been to the Transport Museum in Coventry?
I would guess you have, but if not you must. It'll be right up your street (especially as it's free).
