My weather app is showing -5 overnight and max of zero during the day, for Tuesday and Wednesday around Tamworth area. That is definitely “frozen in solid” territory. Next week is forecast to be the coldest week in February for 5 years. That's why I've delayed setting off. It seems a bit pointless setting off if I only get 2-3 days up the cut and have to sit there for the rest of the week, on the mooring at least I have my car, and good mobile phone, TV and internet signals. But I'll monitor the situation and might change my mind. I'm aiming to be in Llangollen at the end of March as I mentioned, and it's 12 days from here via the Shroppie so I'm not on a tight schedule.

We originally put the boat in the marina, just for the weekend, but the forecast isn't looking like we'll be able to leave for over a week.
We'll see how it goes, and we can always rely on Stabby's roving reports (if he can tear himself away from figure skating).

Yes there are but not the same kind of thing - short ones between lakes, and the Saimaa Canal: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saimaa_Canal Rushing a bit now - cooking pasta, and then frying little sausages cut into thick slices. Then the pasta gets fried, curry powder and Flora curry sauce and the sausage bits get chucked in. Cools in fridge. Plastic forks. Eat 13km above Sweden whilst other plane passengers look on and are jealous, their mouths watering with the aroma This is why people block you

Sadly, the Winter Olympics finishes this weekend, and I have to say I enjoyed every minute of it. I was particularly aroused by those young Scottish women with the brooms, sweeping the floor.

You can only get away with that because you're ginger.

well it is womans work isn't it? Exactly. I'm hoping they are going to include ironing, sock darning and moaning in the next games.

well it is womans work isn't it? So how was the night in the hotel? No details please..... but I take it you had a fun evening. I love my boat.....but at this time of year, a hot shower any time you like is quite good Rog

re the hotel - we spoiled it by having a bottle of bubbles before we went for tea... a bottle of wine with tea... and the best part of a bottle of mothers ruin when we got back.... it's all rather blury and we've vowed the NEXT time we go for a bath, we'll NOT drink and make better use of the facilities. Still, on the bright side, with not feeling like eating yesterday as a result, it'll have helped the diet.

Are you iced up down there?
Watching the weather for Tamworth and it looks like all the minus temp's are finished with by next Monday (high of 7 and low of 2).
Wed and Thursday are looking like the coldest days.

Only the tiniest bit of surface ice in the mornings but I'm expecting it fall below zero tonight and stay that way for a few days. There's also a bitter wind and that in itself makes cruising less than pleasant. As soon as the cold spell passes then I'll go.

Next week is looking a tad better, still cold but no sub zero temps yet...
Coventry is frozen solid around hawkesbury/marston as no boats have attempted to break it, im heading to the boat out hartshill way at the weekend, was going to go and empty the loo but doubt that will be possible.
