The weekend will decide us whether or not to get on our way Monday.
Fingers crossed we're back to normal quickly.

Next week is looking a tad better, still cold but no sub zero temps yet... Coventry is frozen solid around hawkesbury/marston as no boats have attempted to break it, im heading to the boat out hartshill way at the weekend, was going to go and empty the loo but doubt that will be possible. There wouldn't be any pleasure in trying to move at the moment even if the canal was passable, there's an absolutely bitingly cold wind blowing here. I have to empty my toilet today but I'll just chuck it in the boot of my car and empty it at the secret elsan point at Rose Narrowboats.

Ah yes the advantages of compost loos become apparent in conditions like this.

Thinking now of pushing off tomorrow if the last of the ice melts today. Very bored on the mooring now. Hoping to catch up with Rog next week and in a bizarre twist of irony, steal his boat.

Never mind my boat......I know where there's a cracking Hudson Looking good for Monday or Tuesday now. We'll no doubt have to come back home again within a couple of weeks due to the condition of Jane's Mum, but in the mean time it'll be good to get cruising again. Rog

Coventry canal still frozen at spring wood haven marina!
Slushy on top but deep ice underneath, maybe it will thaw tonight/tomorrow though as the temp has risen here....

Never mind my boat......I know where there's a cracking Hudson I'd put a metal bucket over the aerial so they can't turn the heating on

Yes, the canal is still a little icy here but the snow has been rapidly melting. I think if the temperature stays above zero tonight and reaches the forecast 8 degrees tomorrow it should all be gone. We've even had some sunshine today. But let me know tomorrow what it's like there, Springwood Haven is about where I normally head for on the first day out to avoid mooring in Treacle Town.

Not there in the morning, but will be crosssing marston Lane so I’ll have a look.

Snow melting well here in Corbyshire. You'll be away before too long, forecast for the week ahead is +11° during the day falling to a night time low of 0° on Tuesday and >1° for the rest of the week. We will be on flood with the snow melt so that will balls us up for the next couple of weeks

The plan is to set off tomorrow morning, virtually all of the ice has gone now and I'm fed up with being on the mooring, I was originally expecting to have left over a week ago. I'm sure I made the right decision to delay setting off but now is the time to go. I should be somewhere on the Llangollen canal by the end of the month. I'll post some pics as and when.
