I need to fix copper pipe to a flare nut on a pressurised paraffin burner. I don't think I can use an olive on this (?) So what is the cheapest option for connecting a pipe to it? Don't really need to buy a flaring kit as I probably won't need to do it again. The burner requires 30psi feed pressure and I am intending to use rubber hose (7840) and hosetails/jubilee clips from the tank but this flare nut thing is a bit awkward. Not sure if I could replace it with a 3/8 npt hosetail. Edit to correct autocorrect errors

You want a 3/8" 60 degree coned seat swivel hose tail, i'm a bit pushed atm so you will have to drive google

Thanks for that Except looking them up they seem to have the same shape as the burner fitting rather than the flare nut. I either want to fix a pipe to the flare nut or lose that and fit a hosetail straight to the burner fitting. So it would need a hosetail with a "female taper" seat. That won't mate onto the burner fitting.

Cone seated is the other way - concave rather than convex.
I'll stick something up later

Looking at it on a better screen it looks closer to a 45° seat. In which case a hydraulic fitting would pull up on it.
I'll have a rummage and see if I've any 3/8 tomorrow.

I'd go along with young Gazza's suggestion 100%.
But if you really really need a flaring kit, then you're welcome to borrow mine.

I don't know if it makes a difference but its an American product (Force 10 Cozy cabin heater with a "Patria" burner made in portugal ) so possibly NPT thread. AFAIK this is similar if not exactly the same as bsp.

My first thought when away from the workshop would be to find a small 1/4" socket where the hexagon end fiots inside the tube and the body is larger. Then anneal the copper pipe, slide the nut over the pipe, insert socket and give it a good hot with a hammer while holding the pipe. I think t would flair enough to get a seal but do a good pressure test if you can.

I think t would flair enough to get a seal but do a good pressure test if you can. That's a good idea. I've got some of those small sockets. What is a bit odd is that the manual suggest using rubber hose but I don't see how that would work without some sort of hosetail. Wording from manual "Installation of the Fuel Line We recommend 1/4" rubber hose for flexibility and safety. It is available from your dealer or local plumber. Soft copper tubing may also be used, but can kink more readily than rubber. Connect the hose to the heater and tank with flare nuts, which are provided with both the heater and the Force 10 fuel tank. Measure the length of hose or copper tubing you require. If you decide to use copper, have the plumber flare both ends of the tubing to suit. Install the fuel line using one 9/16" open wrench on the flare nut and one 7/16" wrench on the fitting on the burner. Do not use any pipe dope or Teflon tape etc., but make a proper flare." This implies I could directly fit rubber hose to it but I don't understand that.

Properly shit day at work today - didn't help being an hour late! I'll try my hardest to look for that fitting tomorrow, no production staff in so should have a fairly uninterrupted day👍

Magnetman.
I may have a JIC fitting here that will do, can you check the outside diameter of the thread with a vernier or a micrometer. The Threads Per Inch looks correct.

I will go and check it. I've got a dial vernier so can get to within about 0.1mm accuracy. I think it could be a npt thread as its an american product. Will post dimensions shortly. I don't have the tank so I'm planning to use an empty fire extinguisher as some of these have a Schrader valve on the neck for pressurising. The paraffin burner needs 30psi apparently. Should be fun. Stainless fire extinguisher would be love er lee !! Another item to look out for.

15.8mm approx outside diameter if thread and I make it 5 threads in a 7.5mm length.
Its a Portuguese actual burner but with an american adapter which also clamps it to the structure of the heater itself. .
What do they mean about attaching rubber pipe to the flare nut ? Is there some sort of insert for it ? If I could do it with rubber I would buy I think it'd just pull out..
