Could you? You seemed as keen to carry on... And now you seem keen to kick another one off. Strange how folk can't see how hypocritical they are on here sometimes.

... We can open our front door and hear.... silence. That is fine until you hear silence inside as well..... Offt pub for a bit of non-silence. Silence is strange. We live by a major fire station and around the corner from the hospital. There are lots of sirens. We only notice it when we on the boat or camping because you can't hear them.

Well, the thing is that while theoretically a driver should be able to stop before hitting another vehicle, this only really applies when the other vehicle is driven in a way which is reasonably predictable, otherwise no vehicle would be able to travel at more than walking speed for fear of a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction crossing into oncoming traffic. Please dont derail this thread into facts.

I took the chap who was actually driving to court and presented him as the guilty speeder...they weren't interested, its past the deadline for disclosure and I got found guilty..my pal walked out of court with nothing!!... 🙄 I don't subscribe to all this speeding costs live bullshit I'm afraid...it's bad driving that cause accidents, as demonstrated by that numbnut mini driver in OP not someone doing 70 in a sixty zone! Oh. I beleive you have to be the speeder for it to work.

I don't mind the silence..its when I cannot identify whats causing the noise that I start to worry.. Not that its ever truly silent because the jackdaws 'sing', the wind blows, occasional cars pass and the cottage creaks.

I find background noise very soothing, especially the ticking of a clock, the crackling of a fire, the kettle on the stove, birds outside calling.

Quiet minds cannot be perplexed or frightened but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm.

I have never watched 'The Silence of the Lambs'...nor do I wish to..... I rarely watch anything that I know will disturb my inner peace

It was the title I thought apt for your recent discoveries There was a lot of fuss about that movie - when I got round to watching (after the crowds had dispersed) I thought it rather lame, and even now don't really remember what it was all about. Planes, Trains & Automobiles is a much better movie, and if you haven't seen that, then the Fox recommends it.
