CHOCOLATE BADGER!!! Betty's Tea Rooms, Ilkley. Having parked the boat in the basin in Brighouse, the next day (last Monday) we took trains to Huddersfield, Leeds and Menston, where a man who had sold us two lamps (on eBay) met us to hand them over. He gave us a car lift along the edge of Ilkley Moor, the scenic way to that town, where we spent a few hours exploring. Had not been to Ilkley before. Back by train via Bradford and Halifax. Lots of blue smoke coming out of the CRT barge! Engine obviously knackered. I took this at Brighouse basin to show there had been some snow. View from our window. Omelette for breakfast. First fry pieces of boiled potatoes, red peppers, mushrooms, ham, then throw in some chopped spring onions. I think this is between Cromwell Lock and Park Nook Lock. The weather forecast was saying it would be minus 5 Centigrade in Halifax so we decided to scarper a day earlier from Brighouse, back to Sowerby Bridge, in case the canal were to freeze and leave us stuck. As it turned out, we made it in the nick of time, encountering sheets of ice above the Salterhebble locks. The next day from the train into Halifax I saw that stretch of canal was frozen solid (the railway crosses the canal on Copley Viaduct). Park Nook Lock (I think) ahoy! We were the only boat on the move, but here was a live one parked at the top of Salterhebble. One hour's run from here into Sowerby Bridge.

2nd photo, approaching Park Nook, you have just passed a nice offside mooring, Rawson's Wood. There was an old dock for the pipeworks, you can moor up and light a campfire - there's often one built and some wood around.

That omelette looked quite tasty, too bad you spoiled it with the ham Peter.
