What a cynical miserable few of the world! Just got back from the first of the rehearsals for a performance project, Generations, combining a 13-19 and a 55+ group, oldest afaik is pushing 80, 25 people in all, doing silly performance games, getting to know each other, all having fun. There is hope. Http://www.skylightcircusarts.com But we're not here to be happy eh?

Cynical beats patronising. Yes, patronising women in this day and age is totally unacceptable. Now put the kettle on, there's a good lass.

There is still hope for us all!
According to an article in The Times supplement a few weekends ago, women experience their 'best sex' at 64, and men at 66.
It makes you wonder how old the people were that could look back and identify those ages as being so.

I was going to ask why there isn't an International Men's Day but apparently there is... To the above I would add "Men are 100% more likely to get moaned at".

I'm hoping one of the Thunderboat girls will be on the Llangollen canal at the end of this month because I'll be in serious need of having my dirty laundry washed and ironed by then.

Why the hell do we need it? everyday is a battle, a celebration and a win over adversity. Today's particular struggle.... Over 60? ….You Are Invisible... walk your dog down a narrow path and very soon a swathe of WAG’s with their designer doggies plough down four abreast, Barber coat tails whip your cheeks as they force you to leap into the hedge…. they chortle merrily as the dogs bark, froth and generally terrify your little poppet. Once past leaving trembling air redolent with their scornful laughter you swear that the very next day you will plant yourself in the middle of the path and force the tide to flow around you…but you don't, you are invisible after all. Employment… you dear ‘nearly' pensioner (because the bloody government have damned well shifted the retirement goal posts) are doomed to wander and indeed wonder uncomprehendingly at the tills of charity shops. Tweets means gestures of delight as you take money for an item you wish you'd spotted earlier and so comment "but Ah it wouldn't have fitted me” and of course its voluntary… paid employment is beyond you, even if you attend University as a ‘mature student’ in the hope that qualifications mean you still have some chance of worthwhile employment, think again, you may well be granted interviews from time to time but I guarantee you are nothing but a tick box in the march of positive discrimination. “Oh Yes, we have given opportunities to the elderly, the misplaced ethnic, the disabled” and every other oddball in society! " but we are so sorry that the other candidate had “more experience” However if you have one arm, a chronic lisp, a prosthetic limb and resplendent with enlarged gonads then you are in luck, employers will fall over themselves. Elderly? …forget it. So eventually you may be granted a position in one of the more enlightened department stores, the ones where the thining hair brigade sit at tills and wobble away passing groceries over the beepy light! Don't be fooled, even there you are invisible, colleagues of a tender age, usually below thirty, enquire pseudo solicitously if you need help because when you wander over to the fridge to tidy the boxes, one juice carton doesn't look like it belongs so you peruse the collection … the sweet little twenty something chirps from twelve feet away…loudly… “do you need help, that carton doesn't belong there, its from another section three rows away, shall I help you find it?” ...."No I don't need help to locate a fucking erroneous juice carton, because despite being over 60 I can see its in the wrong place and Yes I am still in full control of brain function enough to find where it should sodding be!” … you cant say it, you will be sacked! … expendable, there is a whole army of elderly compatriots just waiting in their comfortable memory foam shoes. International Womans Day? ...doesn't even apply to anybody over 60 because by then you are just a fucked up memory to most, certainly not worth employing to give another generation inspiration because even though you have tried hard to equip yourself with qualification it isnt quite enough because Hey! "you dont have experience" Bollocks! when they have an International Washed up gin drinking Grandmother Day I might put a penny in the bloody tin! Virtually all that applies to old men too. Why do so many women think they are so specially hard done by? Victim mentality, I suppose.

I was going to ask why there isn't an International Men's Day but apparently there is... To the above I would add "Men are 100% more likely to get moaned at". The greatest 'inequality' has been missed. Men die, on average, several years before women. Despite this, more is spent on women on preventative medicine (screening etc.) than men. In these times of namby pamby socialism where the government expects to take care of each and every citizen's every want and need this, surely, is an outrage?

Cynical beats patronising. "silly performance games" no thanks. What leads you to the thought that the games were patronising? Or is it inherent in being a miserable cynic. I'm cynical about cynics. Twat. Instead of sitting about happily festering in misery looking for things to grumble whine and moan about, let other people carry on with their Day and go and set up your own. Miserable Moaning Twats Day. Just do us all a favour and make it 29th Feb.
