Here's something that could ideally be repaired by stuffing the great Dick and his entire (mis)management 'team' into it, . . the gert big hole at the Middlewich end of the 'New Cut' !
Edit: I can't make the photo link work, . . . it's off the Shroppie's Cut Breach thread on Analworld !
or try this :~
29257836_10156142085858232_5924992726143430753_n.jpg . . . . . . sod it, that doesn't work either !

The photos are already posted Tony in the Desiree Llangollen 2018 thread. I think they should send the managment team to fix it, they might spend more on premptive maintenance then.

Mathew Symonds replied to my e mail, and said he'd ring me this morning.
Good as his word he did ring. Very polite and he engaged in our 'discussion'. I have no doubt he was explaining the company line, and he did it very well. I am equally certain he is aware of a growing concern amongst boaters about their actions.
He said that the entire 12 month consultation process cost £75,000 and that 10,000 people responded to the survey.
He claimed C&RT used an independent consultancy to avoid allegations of C&RT merely enforcing their own proposals.
He said that the reduction in prompt payment bonus (from 10% to 5%) would equate more or less to an inflation price rise, but as they were not increasing the price, it would more or less cancel this out.
He said most responders wanted licensing to be based on area, but as this could instantly double some peoples fees, they'd opted for their proposals for phased increases.
We had a lengthy conversation, and had to agree to disagree on virtually all points.
I made the point that the licensing system is now much more complex than it had been ; the proposals were divisive and unnecessary ; the price rises are to be implemented in a 'sneaky' way.
I thanked him for his time and for listening.
I formed the impression that his job involves quite a lot of 'fighting fires' at present

Even when he has been proven blatantly wrong, he won't admit it. Bit of a prick.

Good of you to raise the concerns you have. If more people would bother to do it, they might realise and do something about it.

I think you're right.
We can all form a bit of a pressure group by directing e mails, just to let them know we're not entirely happy.
It takes seconds to send an e mail, even for a technophobe like me.
I don't think such protests will do much good, but at least we get the chance to say "I don't agree".

It's a blatant lie to say licence fees have gone up 7% "in line with inflation" - unless they're talking about inflation in Zimbabwe.

And why wasn't the survey checked for functionality before it was released. It's a shoddy piece of work.

C&RT used an "independent consultancy" to avoid allegations of C&RT merely enforcing their own proposals (sounds like a bad joke).
They paid (gave) them £ 75.000 for that job, without them having any experience with boats and boaters.
I don't think somehow that the "Independent Consultancy people" would do anything against the ever so generous C&RT that paid them this pretty huge amount of money, for which it wouldn't have been hard to find a much more useful purpose.
Peter.

Peter. 75,000 is being a bit nimble. Multiply it by four and that will be the more honest figure. All the costs of running the consultation have not been released.

That will only be a minor detail to Parry, as he really loves to waste endless amounts of money that he doesn't have to pay for himself, why count ? Peter.
