rawsondsr: "I can only comment on the experience i had, and what i was told at the council offices - they told me in near enough the following words (it was a few years ago now) that because i was british, male, not pregnant, paid all my taxes, and not foreign, i was at the bottom of the list - so would never be able to help, however if i was a female pregnant immigrant, i would be in a house with benefits within hours. Age was not mentioned - whether this would have made a difference i do not know. They did however give me details of a local homeless charity - so i popped down to them and all they could do for me (for same reasons as above) was give me a piece of paper with some websites on to find housing. These consisted of rightmove, primelocation, zoopla etc. not much help. All i was eligible for was less than £10 a day unemployment. So whilst it was snowing and minus temperatures, i lived in the car." Bullshit!

He's just been told to empty himself, his dog and his life out of the boat before they seize it.
I'm all cut up that his lack of tidiness in doing so upsets you.
I bet he didn't put a clean shirt on or comb his hair either.

is there no better way than a 9am ambush and "clear you, your dog and your stuff out". If there isn't a better way than we should be ashamed of ourselves for NOT DEMANDING ONE. The legalities aside, C&RT and the police actions are disproportionate and inhumane. We can at least complain if nothing else. Agreed on this. Perhaps Saint Victoria Beckham will come and help out? She likes that kind of 'charidy' work: Posing again.

Foxy, you sound like the CWDF massive now. The guy is apparently a hoarder.....but what's it to you or indeed anyone else how he lives. If he HAS to be evicted.......if his home HAS to be seized is there no better way than a 9am ambush and "clear you, your dog and your stuff out". If there isn't a better way than we should be ashamed of ourselves for NOT DEMANDING ONE. The legalities aside, C&RT and the police actions are disproportionate and inhumane. We can at least complain if nothing else. Rog Hopefully when this is all resolved his supporters will endeavour to help him to remain legally compliant. As they are themselves.

That was Ware, Hertfordshire. Horrible, smarmy cow behind the glass screen. Let's hope she has died in agonising circumstances, really nasty bitch.

He's just been told to empty himself, his dog and his life out of the boat before they seize it. So it was all of a sudden a complete surprise at 9am? Just out of the blue? No warnings? No nothing? No sixth sense?

It definitely isn't a towpath mooring. The towpath moorings are visible in the background. The security fence with the shearbolts suggests this may be private (highways agency?) land which leads me to consider the possibility that the "eviction" has in fact been driven by some body other than crt but crt are getting the flack.

You have good observational skill. M16 / M15 really could employ you, as you don't miss much.

Rog I have neither expressed sympathy nor a lack of sympathy towards the boater in question, merely pointed out that there was an air of inevitability about CRT's actions. Hopefully when this is all resolved his supporters will endeavour to help him to remain legally compliant. That's the way I approached it. Other than suggesting he may be a pole with a house in Poland I have made no personal judgements about the individual. I was accused (by kris) of making personal judgements but I think he had some issues as he and one or two others were making personal judgements about me but I did actually keep my comments to the case and other topics potentially related to it. I don't really understand why it has to be so personal.

We haven't had this pic here yet, have we? What's with all the junk on the side? Bit of a mess. The contents of his boat presumably. If you had 10 minutes (or whatever) to clear your boat I imagine the tow path would look a bit of a mess too and you don't live on yours. But it isn't. Look at the picture. Look at the boat. Look at the grass. I quite like random assortment of relatively useful equipment but I know that even if you do this on your own land (unless you can hide it) it does not end well. Doing it on someone else's land is pushing it and will be stopped. Its blatantly obvious.

Yes, they're the ones. So, let's hear all about your greater understanding of these procedures and processes, . . . or are you just going to duck the issue and avoid answering, as you usually do whenever you're caught out spouting off about something you don't in truth know anything about ? Just quoting you to get your attention What do you think about the suggestion that the highways agency (it was you who suggested the boat was moored under a motorway bridge) may have requested that CRT remove the boat from their land? I imagine the highways agency may have some other powers available to them for example for removing caravans from their land. So this raises the question of who has the right to do what when it comes to forcefully removing boats from private river or canal banks. This is where you and Nigel can help

"I imagine the tow path would look a bit of a mess too and you don't live on yours." We certainly do for 14 weeks of a year - and you're welcome to pop along to anywhere we're moored up to see if we've left the towpath looking like it's been occupied by 'Travellers' for a month. You have totally changed the meaning of my post so you could take umbrage, I believe that makes you a twat. Twat.
