Jane was saying to me yesterday, that you're going to have to find a base on a nice muddy ditch. Less exciting but more consistent. Tell the C&RT man he's a public servant.......not our master Rog

Another pensioner. First crt make a pensioner homeless then a pensioner kills a burglar now a pensioner falls in the River. Maybe they should do away with pensions ?

now a pensioner falls in the River. If you do some fishing with your magnet, you may be able to pull him out by his belt buckle? He should be down your way in about a week?

Sadly I had to cancel my trip up the River as it all went to red boards just when I was planning to be boating. I don't really like red boards so went back to Brentford on the canal.
As for bodies I found one about 15 years ago floating past. I was at Runnymede on the Thames and apparently he had jumped in the weir just upstream at Old Windsor a couple of days before. Apparently the Body usually sinks and gets caught on things then floats to surface and drifts down river. I would estimate that this one gets found at Henley or possibly a bit further down maybe Hambleden Lock.

Wellies and water don't mix. You can't get them off when full of water and they act as lead weights.
Was probably a nice quick way for the old fellow to go.

So - we moored last night at broadreach lock waiting for the calder to drop .... it had just gone into the yellow about 9 this morning so we set off up stream to fall ing. On arrival, a crt chap came up and was quite rude pointing out the river (there) was in red and we should not be on it... I know he's only doing his job but he was rather kurt about it - I pointed out when we set off from stanley ferry it WAS in the yellow and falling so its not my fault the boards are inconsistant. No matter - wew're having lunch up here now and will head back down again in about an hour - hopefully by which time, it'll have dropped back into the yellow at fall ing too. This happened to me at Brighouse, waited for yellow at Brighouse, set off to Anchor Pit, gates closed, a little on red! Bugger that, got my trusty engine hoist and slings out, winch it open, there was only about 1/2 inch difference. Didn't want to stay on the river side of the flood gates next to the weir.

Lots of drama on some Anglian rivers currently, with sluices opened to drain the rivers due to high rainfall in the catchment area, and high tides expected. There have been homes flooded out last week. Draining down seems rather after-the-event rather than anticipatory, as it had been with local Drainage Board employees now replaced with EA remote automated controls. No sunk boats yet, but it tends to happen when they are stranded at severe angles on drain down, so they fill up when the river rises again.

I heard this was the case with the Boxing Day 2015 floods, that the reservoirs high up in the hills should have been opened before the rain started to come down in stair-rods. I wonder if the authorities for those reservoirs ever got a rap on the knuckles?
Perhaps all of this excess water could be piped to Africa, as they're short of it, apparently. Or to Saudi Arabia, and to charge them the same as they charge for their oil?

Back in Biblical days after the great flood,God speaks to Noah.
He says "Noah, now that the ark is empty, I want you to make it bigger"
Noah replies "Your wish is my command My Lord, what do you need"?
God says "Noah, I want you to add another twenty decks to the ark and fill it with fish"
Noah says "It will be done My Lord, what fish would you like"?
God says "I want it full of Kois, Noah"
Noah replies "Why just Kois,My Lord"?
God says "Because I want a multi-storey carp ark"
