Medlock, I presume? "I have A41 "Medlock" I stopped it going into a scrap yard about 5 years ago." I don't think it was ever referred to by a name, other than "Medway eco-barge". It was an absolute crock of crap though. Sorry - I thought you'd forgotten the name of kris's boat - when you said 'eco' I thought of the inside outhouse.

I don't have TV or ability to watch this sort of thing it I already hate it. I believe peter bargemast is a it of a fan of "oliekop" tanker barges. Are there any pictures of it ? A "fan" is maybe a bit too much, but I've always liked nicely sh aped tankerbarges, of which I've owned 2, 1 was a 38m one with a shape like a luxemotor and an airstart 100 HP @ 1250n French Baudouin DK-4, and the second was a very pretty shaped 21M50 barge that was supposed to have become my cruising houseboat. Sadly enough I got heart problems in 2009 that didn't allow me to continue with the conversion (that's what my Cardiologist said), and I sold the barge which was well on it's way to being converted, most of the steelwork was done. I have been lucky to have more-or less recovered, and often regret that I had to sell that barge at the time, but I know that I don't gain anything with having regrets. "Oliekop" isn't a type of tankerbarge, I knew a small tankerbarge about 30 years ago with a twin-cylinder Kromhout 2 stroke engine that was named "Oliekop". As I didn't see the TV, I don't know if that was the same barge by coincidence. Peter.

I just put Oliekop in my post as I had a vague idea it meant oil barge in dutch and that you would know if that was the case I don't know if the TV boat was called that as I have not seen the program.

The slightly ridiculous vessel pictured in JohnV's post is a butchered Thames lighter. Totally different vessel types. Hth

[ Oh so that's what "cut" means. I thought it was something to do with a load of blokes digging great big ditches using spades and wheelbarrows with wooden (!) wheels.

Are you still moored in Kidderminster? Rog I might move on tomorrow, I might stay until the weekend and go for a ride on the SVR. I don't know if the Severn is open yet, finding that out might well influence my decision. I don't know about the Severn but the Avon at bath was opened last week but remains on Amber and they have repadlocked the lock again. I understand they are expecting it to go back to red at the weekend. I have heard hirers haven't been able to get onto the Severn or Avon at is it Tewkesbury way. That is all I can offer. I don't have the Severn on my stoppages email

Translated "Oliekop" means "Oilhead", which is just a name, and a very rarely used word for someone that's on a spree. The words you need when looking for a small tankerbarge in dutch are : "Olieboot - Bunkerboot - Klein tankscheepje" After a bit of researche I found a series of photo's of a small tankerbarge in the UK that's named "Oliekop", and that looks very much like the one I used to know. Maybe some members that have watch the TV programm can see if this is the one they showed. www.flickr.com/photos/considine1559/Peter.

That boat "Oliekop" is in Islington and has been for a few years. It is on a transferable CRT residential mooring below Sturt's Lock.

Thanks Kris, there must be others around, I vaguely remember another one that was called "Oliekop" aswell, and that had a 6 cylinder Bedford engine, a fairly uncommon engine overhere, where most 6 cylinders are DAF engines (very reliable but smokers). Peter.

I didn't record it so I can't check. It was tugged over from the Netherlands I think for 8000 quid. I think they mentioned mooring at Hampton, would that be right?
