Because all staff have to go to some company to get measured for their new uniforms with the Polo Logo. "Polo - the canal with the hole in it" - haha!

If some men with shovels can build it, how come in this day and age we cant fix it..the plant that is available to us today should make it a piece of piss.
Clay, Earth and a digger is all they need, 3 million my arse.

Its not going well is it, still on £20k with 26 days left, thats a daily target of £76k to hit the £2m needed.
One comment...
Catharine Russell `1 day ago Surely we must all help with this massive project at Middlewich - it is such a key access point to so many beautiful canals.
£52.50 + £12.50 Gift Aid
No Catharine, CRT need to help themselves a little and budget better for such things.

There's a bleedin' great breach in CRT's accounting method! Licence fee increases will help to staunch the flow.

Now at £22k, think its safe to guess the appeal has run out of steam, all avenues exhausted, nil pwa, no more pots to piss in, FUKT...
So where do CRT go, they claim to need £1m so what can they do now it has been shown that Joe blogs doesnt really care enough about the canals to hand over dosh.

Oh noes... they'll have to return all the new logo signs and pink uniforms to get 2 million squids back. The best bit, though, is a lot of people who can afford to park in Aqueduct Marina will be affected. The Llangollen Canal is gonna be chock-a-bloc with furious Bufton-Tuftons this Summer!

I seem to remember they had about £9 million in reserve, hopefully they haven't spent it all on the rebrand.

As I see it, some soil has been washed away and now they need to pile it back up again, bringing in more soil as required on tipper lorries. I'm not a canal engineer, so is it actually any more complicated than that? And if not then given that a JCB with driver costs about £20 an hour to hire, why is it going to cost two million quid?

Health and safety guv... everyone will be lining up, hands open asking for stupid money, and chances are crt will pay it.
Earth, clay and machines is all they need, maybe a few big rocks to shore it up a bit, i learnt to drive 360s and 180s as a kid from my dad, its not hard to pile mud up.
When you approach the anchor pub at harsthill from springwood haven direction, just before the iron bridge you will see a load of rocks piled on the off side bank, my old man put them there a long time ago, the bank slipped into the canal and he had to shore it up with rocks, i smile every time i go past.

Because it costs £30,000 to repair but someone wants the rest to be poured into their secret Swiss bank account.

I'm reading on Facebook that CRT cannot begin repairs because of the presence of a badger sett.
