Found them! one is complete, the other machined but needing heater plugs and a thermsotatic switch. the plugs are:- NGK glow plug y924j as fitted to Peugeot 1.9 diesels etc. Let me know if you want them.

When you fit heaters like this, are you supposed to place them before and after the filter?

When you fit heaters like this, are you supposed to place them before and after the filter? Only one needed per engine installation. On the 1.7TD Isuzu engined Astra I had I seem to remember i put it in after the filter just because it was easier due to pipe layout. You can get heated filter heads, combined with this is the best set up if running on fuels other than diesel. I didn't have a heated filter head on the Astra and that ran well enough on all sorts of old shite! bit smokey to start when cold but otherwise no difference

Thanks for that, interesting but it's not going to happen this year. Maybe Peter can let us know how he gets on?

Need to ensure you have a fuel pump that can cope with the oil...

Need to ensure you have a fuel pump that can cope with the oil... I can categorically state that a Ford 1.8 diesel with Bosch or Lucas injection equipment will run for on veggie oil. I can categorically state that the Isuzu engined Astra will run on almost anything vaguely oily.
