Take it back to the garage you got it from and demand your money back, with or without a warranty it has to be fit for purpose.

Fingers crossed.

The risk when buying a used car is always that the last owner got shot of it because an expensive problem was looming on the horizon. For this reason it's normally better to buy privately where you can at least talk to the current owner and gauge his honesty, most private owners with a potentially troublesome car will offload it at auction where there is no comeback for them (and from where dealers obtain most of their stock).

No half measures with your new toolbox, weren't there any Roller's or Bentley estate cars for sale ? I sounds that you are filling a hole in the market, and that there are plenty of folks that need your help. Good luck with making this into an even bigger succesful enterprise Wayne. Peter. Dont know how i am sooo calm lol. The tool box is poorly, i did break down afetr maybe 10 miles from the dealer, he came out and fitted another injector. worked a treat and off we went, then after 80 mile after booting it a little, not agreat deal just some cock up my backside when i was doing 75mph, it went into limp mode. OOoo pap i got the hard shoulder and turned it off which resett it. So from then it goes into limp when you give abit more juice to say overtake. I called the dealer and talked, i went to the local garge to plug it in, engine can not be recognised, so i went to a diesel specalist, same again. he said check the fuel filter for debri from the injector pump and hey ho. we reckon its on its way out. and it was serviced about a 1k miles ago lol metal fillings a sin the bottom of the top pic so a quicky reck and it could be £2k to fix if the injector pump has gone aswell as an auto sparky to see why it wont register on a diagnositc and then the diagnostic to see what fualts there are. It looks like a short but happy knowing it. LOl i knew i should of got a Granada Scorpio Estate again , simples car. Sorry to hear about the car Wayne, give it back to the dealer its not fit for purpose, when you fit an injector you should also fit a pipe [dont ask me why but its jags policy] The pump failure is common now and not that expensive to fix but you have to have the tools to do it, you unscrew a plate from the timing case screw the tool in which clicks into the timing chain sprocket remove pump replace with new, replace all pipework and injectors plus the filter and Bobs you uncle fannies your aunt! oh for got program injectors into the ECU otherwise it will smoke and fail its MOT!! Somebody I suspect has run bio diesel in the car and it knackers the high pressure pump, if I have replaced one I have done far to many to count. Its one of the reasons I wont run a modern diesel nobody ever saves money with them! Good petrol cars are available Wayne buy one of those its cheaper in the long run, I have diagnostics for the car it will show up as low fuel pomp pressure and brings on an immediate limp home to stop it running weak and burning holes in the pistons, If you want to PM me we can talk about it OK?

Hi Wayne, I'm really sorry to hear about your missery with the new toolbox, the junk in the fuel-filter doesn't look good. Repairing will be a costly matter, and quite possibly not even worth the bother.
I thought that those Jag's were disguised Ford's anyway, so probably better (if less fancy) to have a Ford in that case.
Best of luck with finding a more reliable new toolbox, as it's no good if you need to spend the money you just made on another one a bit too often.
Peter.
Would you believe its a Peugeot unit or according to the gaskets sets I have ordered it is

Middle son brought car from private sale..deathtrap on wheels Ive just helped him get it to the scrap yard...regretfully I fronted the money so my loss....son refused to take the car back...it has been hell of a day. Ive helped him get more wheels but this time from garage with warranty ...understanding is he gets a job and pays me back...I couldn't deal with the thought of him going out in the deathtrap with my grandson. I hope you resolve the issue with your car satisfactorily....

Peugeot power unit in a Jaguar (Ford) what is the world coming to?
The one car which let me down was a Rover 418 SLD. Ok I was lazy about it all and yes the water pump was leaking yes I knew about it and yes I cooked it. Peugeot diesel engine in a "British" car. Rude.
Anyway cars are meant to be driven by petrol engines or possibly electric motors.

Would you believe its a Peugeot unit or according to the gaskets sets I have ordered it is Yes Peter I know that Ford and PSA developped these engines together, if they are treated well, and are properly maintained (no second quality fuel used) they will do more than 300K Mls, there are loads of Mondeo taxi's that have these engines in the UK, and plenty of Peugeot/Citroen cars and vans too.
Their failing is often caused by people that want to save on expenses, and skimping on maintenance with the idea that running their cars like that is cheaper.
That's only true until the repair bills are starting to come in, and they will very quickly make their cheap idea a very expensive one, but then it's too late for regrets.
Peter.

Thought i would give an update.
Thanks again Peter;)
Now i called the dealer again, sorry nope, i sent him a message last night that i had fitted the new fuel filter ( he paid for ) and got it running fine again. Went for a spin and it still, well what else, imps about once booted.
Also said that after talking to some guys ( Peter ) that i should give it back and asked when he can collect it Well he said he didnt get the message when I called today . After bull shit chatter I said the only way you can get me to keep it now is to collect it and repair it to a proper standard with minimum recond parts and the guarantees that they come with.
All he said was more bull shit IMO, he said this time he has been in the system 4 time ( last time twice ) i asked then why he didnt resett the 30+ faults in the car that there was. It felt he found it hard to explain it.
Oh and now the injector do need coding to the ECU as before they do it themselves.
He said the boss is away and back Monday so he will get back on what he says he can do about it.........we will see, ido love the car and think that when its all repaired properly it will be a dam good car a the rest is excellent....but you know to much has happend now and little bits of bull shits going on.
I am sure t hasnt been serviced as stated in the sales terms.....i am going to check the air filter, thats the best way to see.

What bollocks he has chat. The car has not been on the road between 2016 and 2018 and only done around 60 miles according to the GUV website. The service has not been done according the air filter either. it is 100% going back, i was near tempted to keep when i spoke to him tonight a she said they will fix it and collect it. i am on look out fo the same car, exact same car but working now. I dont lie to lied to so he has done it good time now and lost the lot. Finance will not be happy as it is there car at the end of the day.

Well i have sent the dealer an email as i guess i need to do this by the book says the finance company, so all noted for.
You could say an ultimatum, if all work is carried out as in New Inj pump and Injectors and flush the lines and tank, and service the engine which was not done along with fix the oil leak i will keep it with a parts guarantee and 12 months parts and Labour warranty.
Oh yes able to get into the engine management which is not possible yet.
things you have to do hey, finger crossed for me please, then if they dont sod it there are others about. just not as nice in my eyes.

Wayne, need some work done if you are still in the biz, two steel locker/benches on the bow of the boat are showing bad signs of rust so want them cut out, would do it myself but i have no mains on the mooring so would have to get a gennie as the invertor isn't powerful enough for a grinder, plus buying a grinder it make sense to pay someone else...
Based at hawkesbury junction, let me know if you fancy a bit of work?
