There are some really handsome boats moored round Skipton, of all kinds. The variety of boats you see makes it well worth slowing to tick over to get a good neb. As we were walking today we saw a black life boat (like the high vis orange ones but double length). A real curiosty but someones pride and joy and in White Bear marina. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at a posh new marina like the prison one near Braunston (Dunchurch Pools?) when having received a years fee for mooring a boat, something like the life boat turns up he he. The IWA members and marina 'commodore' would be having fits Rog

Beside us in Skippy. I rather like the shape of this Viking 32: there are two things I don't like about the Vikings .............. No.1 an outboard and No.2 the pram cover.

I like the big tupperware. Used to fancy a Highbridge after the dc22, but those, as with the viking, have a high gunnel where you board, I was having to hoick Noreen up in an undignified manner when the bank was low. In the days of solar there's nowt much wrong with an outboard, they do have advantages, easier steering, prop clearing, reversing in a straight line. I want a pram cover on the back of my nb, great for cruising in all weathers. JohnV are you going to take your wheelhouse off then?

The height of the wheelhouse on Shapfell is lower than the height of the average sewer tube roof

It's such a shame that the trade has stopped ..... I used to love watching the big working barges
