I've finally realised why cart sold off the vast majority of their maintenance equipment. Because the only equipment they would need from now on is paint brushes.

You'll have to be very careful with what you're saying from now on Kris, as CaRT now has it's in-house legal department named : "Legal & Governance Services".
They could attack you because of you using one of the worst swear words known to C&RT "MAINTENANCE", which has become a word they don't want to hear or read ever again.

Your right Peter, it just gets my goat when you pass a lock that is hanging. One paddle not working, gates leaking badly etc. But it's okay because the volunteers are there painting, making it look lovely for the cyclists and ramblers.

Problem is they want/need more money, make it nice and crt just might get a few walkers and cyclists donating, but they know they will get little extra from boaters given what we pay already. So they will concentrate on their new revenue stream. Just hope they keep an eye on boaters as it won’t take many to leave to cost them far more..........

Maybe if people would finally stop using these old locks, they would have a chance of lasting much longer, and then didn't even need the frequent repainting anymore.
It's about time that more people understand how C&RT can safe on expenses.
Don't forget the more money that's left after a year of running(down) the canals, the more money that will be left for the higher staff bonusses.
They had to spend a lot more than planned due to the expenses of getting their fleet of cars vinyl-wrapping done to show their new brand name.
Peter.

Why CRT can't convey that message to boaters I'm not sure, but with Parry in charge (for now) things are unlikely to change.
