The narrowboat is Victoria Plum, shoving Victoria Plum's Garage. Don, the owner used to have a scooter in there. The narrowboat is hydraulically driven and has a hydraulic bow and stern thruster. Being elderly and not in the best of health he can still go boating single handed by controlling the boat with a hand held remote control. He can get off the boat and leave it pushing against the bank while he gets the lock or bridge ready then brings the boat along by remote control. He can have the boat do "twirls" while he is off the boat, a real character.

I think the for sale sign is still on, maybe he's delivering it, I don't know.

Its a bit unusual to see a short boat pushed by a longer one. Normally its the other way around but I suspect the pushing is more efficient.

It wasn't just a scooter in the garage, but a scooter with a plum coloured bullet sidecar. Saw it going through greenberfield locks many years ago.

You are right. He was our neighbour in Thorne back in the 90's. He used the scooter and sidecar to transport his Dinky Toys, Corgis etc to Toy Fairs. We used to call him "Don the Dinky Toy Dealer".
