www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44895391These things are totally ridiculous. I suppose they appeal to the plebs but to me they are quite simply inappropriate and I would not put my kids in one. Even though they can swim. Problem with a sinking vehicle is you get aerated water and aerated water does not promote floating. All very sad blah blah blah etc.

The captain said they didn't need life jackets! These old DUKWs have a habit of sinking.

The captain said they didn't need life jackets! These old DUKWs have a habit of sinking. I think he said there was no legal requirement for the passengers to wear the life jackets. Which is actually quite a bit different.

In the 80's Wicksteed park had a pink DUKW that went flat out down the hill into the lake. Great memories of that as a child They've spent over a million quid on lake maintenance and creating habitats for wildlife - the DUKW will never ride again

I remember one on South Shields beach circa 1949 ..... but not a lot about it apart from the fact it was khaki, open, smelly and I wanted an icecream
